That drives me nuts. Usually its junk vodka too like Dubra of popov. They make a fortune off a $12 bottle.

The best drinks I get are at Foxwoods at the MGM, they use Ketal 1 as their mixer and don't skimp.

I don't start a project without some sort of backup plan, necessary tools and expertise lined up.

I draw the line at carburetors. That I send out for work. I'll read up about the FI system and work on it but once I see a carburetor that needs work, I pick up the phone. I sold my wife's ATV for a similar one, one year newer because it had FI.

Because people like you are few and far between, they can get away with it 99 times out of 100 because there are 99 suckers that will put up with it for every one of you that sends it back.

Yep, that's why I like my regular places, they don't screw around. When I ask for a double Jack and coke its made just the way I like it 50/50 or better.

My greatest fear still is/was creating a 'basket-case' in my garage.

I'm amazed and in awe of some of the past mechanic projects that I have successfully completed in my home garage, as well as on-the-road wrenching on my old 300SD Mercedes-Benz in a Mercedes-Benz dealer's parking lot in the snow @ 30* 350 miles away from my homebase. Or wrenching on it behind a cheap truckstop 100 miles away from home at 98* in direct sunlight. Tools, jackstands, and a floorjack really help out in those situations.

I started some where I was almost certain that I would have to likely call a tow service to haul me in. Oh well, it's all good!

You needn't be so fearful. They are surprisingly basic casting pieces that are screwed together with gaskets. They have a float assembly and a needle valve and some jets and an accelerator pump, but that's about it.

You take them all to pieces, clean everything in carburetor cleaner, reassemble with new gaskets, a new float if necessary, a new accelerator pump if necessary and they work like brand new.

I did many of them back in the day...........none of them were especially difficult. The feedback carbs had a bunch of wires hanging out and were a bit more difficult, but not exceptionally so.

My parts guy was kind enough to provide me this file that was sent to MB owners (so far I have not received any in the mail so I inquired to him about this and he delivered).

This should clarify a few things.

Funny how things work. Just received the same letter in the mail, with the exception that it has my name and 300D's VIN printed on top.

My parts guy also told me MBCA membership is separate from MBUSA's roadside assistance. So if you're an MBCA member it might not necessarily mean you qualify (still depends on the criteria met in the letter).

The criteria for MBCA members to receive MBUSA's roadside assistance is that the MBCA member has to have been in MBCA for at least 1 year and must be in good standing.

Can you point that one out? I briefly glanced thru MBCA's membership benefits but didn't see it.
