Did I say that?

In states where guns are treated like toys, I'm sure its very easy to obtain a gun legally or illegally.

In NJ, it's nearly impossible to buy a gun illegally unless you're assciated with the crime element. And if you're caught with an illegal gun you go to jail.

There are there folks in NJ who aren't "associated with the crime element"?

Just kidding, bit I think anyone buying an illegal gun is associating with a criminal element by definition. It's also difficult to buy crack without dealing with criminals.

Is it lost on you that the magazine that was instrumental in the lunatic's murder toll was illegal under the Clinton Assault Rifle Ban?

Whats the difference between a 33rd stick and having to reload a couple of times?

In Utah you can buy a gun from private individual and they are NO requirements for you or the previous owner to report the sale to anyone. The only time a dealer perform a federal check is if you buying a gun that can be concealed. In short you can get AK47 or a Mossberg from a dealer with driver license only......

Perhaps you missed the news report that the man was attacked and subdued by the crowd when he went to change magazines. The difference? The life of an innocent 9 yr old, perhaps.

I am sorry, but you are wrong. All firearms sales in the United States done thru an FFL dealer require the sale to be reported to the ATF.

I would appreciate if you actually read my post again. I never wrote that the dealer do not report, what I have written is that you can buy WITHOUT performing check first. ( for non concealed weapons)

I'm subject to "real" background checks that take several weeks, involve interviews with plenty of people, criminal checks, credit checks, random drug screening, periodic psychological screenings, etc. I don't know what it costs, but I suspect it is more than the average gun buyer would be willing to pay. The term "background check" can mean many things.
Agreed, everyones definition can be different.

How about interviewing all new driver's friends to find out how much they text?

Random drug screening? Periodic psychological screenings? What's in your background?

Here there is an electronic background check via the state police, $2.00. Usually takes just a few minutes. Always takes a day for me due to an "issue", but I am able to purchase anything other than a fully automatic weapon.

If you jump through enough hoops and have enough money, you can get a class 3 (fully automatic) license.

Hunter S. Thompson used to tie a huge chinese gong between 2 trees on his farm in Woody Creek, Colorado, and then shoot at it with a machine gun.

I would like to do that, some time, it sounds like it would be more fun than watching the entire French Air Force crash into a fireworks factory!
