What in the post that caused your response was trollish, or opposed to what you were saying? I am at a loss to see what the disagreement is about.

No, you could not get any engineer to charge less than I do in NY because my business is not local and I do business with other companies throughout the United States and Europe. If anyone in backwater LA wants to compete with me, they have every opportunity to do so.

The teachers who are employed with the union are benefiting from the fact that their salaries are negotiated by the union without regard to qualifications or capabilities and without regard to any value in the marketplace.

Said teacher will not be paid any amount of money that is close to $90K if they had to go out and compete for the job that they have now. The only reason they earn $90K is due to the union negotiations on their behalf in a closed marketplace where the district has no other options.

Clearly we don't agree.

However, you've done nothing to refute my statements regarding the teachers union and a closed market.

All you've done is to attempt to defend the salaries of the teachers, which was never the point of the discussion in the first place.

And, your references to my rental properties or my business, both of which compete in the open market, have absolutely no basis in the argument.

Therefore, I conclude that you've walked away from the discussion because you cannot support your position.

I remember a saying about a closed mind being like shutters on a window. The harder you push the more tightly the mind is closed.

No sense arguing with someone who has made up their mind.

I made my points for everybody's consideration we all can decide for ourselves how we feel.
