Game over for Gov. Walker?
He's decided he'll negotiate now that his numbers are in the dumpster.

While I am anti-unionization, I am also against any government, state, fed, or city, having the power to become union busters. Giving a government that type of control and power is scary. It would allow them to set precedence for the Feds to do the same thing. It would also give a political party, either left or right, the ability to make wages and benefits a political point, and allow wages to be dropped on a whim.

The guv peaked a week ago. Should've magnanimously offered a deal. Instead, he gets whupped and makes the same deal he'd have look strong making last week. Dumbass.

The Governor has shown himself to be a dishonest bully. His overreaching is so obvious that even people who don't have time to learn the details of the budget issues in Wisconsin can see that he is not being fair. Nobody likes a bully.
I think that prank phone call is a big deal. It was incredibly foolish for him to say that he had no intention of negotiating with the AWOL democrats and that his only reason for getting them to come back was to trick them into making a quorum. |

The governor did public employee unions a huge favor; energized them; gave them a national stage; made the realize the threat they are under nationwide.

Game over? Really? How can you read a blog and call it news?
From: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_state_surveys/wisconsin/wisconsin_governor_walker_43_approval_rating "In addition to the usual partisan and demographic breakdowns, it’s interesting to note that Walker, now engaged in a budget battle with unionized state workers, receives a total approval rating of 46% from households with private sector union members. However, among households with a public sector union member, only 19% offer their approval. Among all other households in the state, opinion is nearly evenly divided—49% favorable and 51% unfavorable."

Probably true, he overplayed his hand. We all understand that unions are on there way to becoming extinct, no need to push that hard to help them along.

What does the private sector pay towards their pension?
What does the private sector pay towards their health care costs? My moms out of surgery today, in addition to monthly health care premiums, there are about 2k worth of co-pays and out of pocket expenses. A cab with wheelchair access gets a premium! Does that hurt the piggy bank for a while? YES! Am I unhappy about it? NO! The surgery cost about $250,000, and paying less then one percent of that isnt unfair! No rate increases, no dropped coverage, nothing of that sort. Offsetting it by dropping cable TV services down to basic, and renting a movie if really wanted (with 12+ weeks of time off, yes, movies are important! Also downgraded the internet service. Also not finishing up the home improvement (all that's left is a bit of painting) What would a government employee face, in the situation of my mother and myself? I dont want anybodys rights taken away. If your a lousy worker, you get fired. If you dont show up to work, you get fired. If your company cannot afford you, you are faced with a possible pay cut, or you are laid off until they can afford you. Why the hell should a government employee be given the opportunity to be a lousy worker, not show up, and demand an unaffordable wage and compensation? ~Nate

In any business deal you don't get what you pay for. You get what you bargain for. Then you sign a contract so each side will know what is expected from the other.
Republicans are working hard to kill all bargaining by not just state employees but ALL employees. This is because Republicans are lousy business people who have no clue as to how to motivate anyone except by fear. Republicans, unwilling to live up to contracts they have signed, are trying to Weasel out of them by claiming that Unions have gotten the better of them and, without the total destruction of the Unions, they have no clue as to how to run a business. Could there be any other reason for Walker's behavior? |

Seems strange to me the people complaining about the negotiated perks of unionized employees are the same people wondering why the rich should be penalized by higher taxes. |

Feds are unionized in some areas. Not all.
