When did teaching become an "average job" or worse?

When teachers began teaching students to be average, fit in, conform and become standardized test takers. Schools are puppy mills for humans. We designed a system for the maintenance and control of large numbers of children. Secondarily, we try to educate the poor bastards.

It's not the teacher's fault -- they obey administrators.

It's not the administrators fault, they obey the school board.

It's not the school board's fault, they try to follow state and federal guidelines on a budget inadequate to the job.

It's not the state and fed's fault because they follow the laws established by the legislature and Congress.

It's really the taxpayer's fault for demanding more of teachers than they are capable of providing, no matter how large a budget they might have.

Education begins and ends at home -- schools provide an illusion of learning. Kids who have no academic educational experience at home will learn other systems of education. No matter how much money we throw at it. Kids who live in a family that places importance on education will learn DESPITE schools. There is no simple, one-size-fits-all solution.

Here's a kick in the Union-nads...

The Reps went and stripped the budget bill of the provisions on collective-bargaining.

Doing that, they took on the CB as a Non-Budgetary item. Without the need to have Dems around. Since they had a quorum available for a non-budgetary vote, guess what happened?

The State stripped the Public Unions of the "privilege" to CB.

Yep, the Senate figured out how to cut down the tree and not kill everyone in the process.

All that's left is for the revised bill to go back to the Assembly, be rubber-stamped and then it's on to the Governor's desk.

Now, maybe, the Dems will come back and work on the budget and get back to straightening up the mess THEY were responsible for making in the first place.

Walker has the nads. Our Dems are wusses...simple as that.

The people have spoken...and not through some half-a55ed poll either.

If CB was a "right" - then ALL Wisconsin working citizens would have it. Since it's not available to all non-public workers, it isn't a "right" - it's a privilege that's been abused.

And the only people that are getting screwed are those at the top of the Public-Union *****pile. Yep...that's the people screaming to have all the others scream. They are yelling "FIRE!" in the theatre...not the other way around.

And since we, the taxpayers that are fed up with overpaid public-servants (and I'm using that term "servant" loosely here), have finally seen the breakup of this monopoly on the taxpayers' wallet, let them try to do a work stoppage or whatever cry-baby tactics they want to use.

I'm hoping that they PROVE to everyone how non-valuable they really are. If they go on strike, the cheaper scabs will be hired and it will be seen that anyone can do what they do for less.

Bring on the work-stoppages!

Every worker in WI had the right to organize into a bargaining until tonight. That workers did not do so is no indication they could not.
If you, the tax payer, was fed up then you the tax payer should not have agreed to the contract giving the unionized workers what they bargained for. If there is a cry-baby in the house it's the likes of you that can't own up to bargains made.

Its not so much what he is doing is right or wrong. I mean after all, he CREATED the dang deficit in WI. But its his method. Spitting on everything that made this state what it is.

By the way, if the company goes broke/Chapter 11, good luck getting any contract honored. Bankruptcy is sorta' the way of loosers. But then, some unions figure they're better than the company and the State itself.

Sorta' pisses one off. Wouldn't you be?

And another BTW: Only the State Union-workers lost the CB privilege (not "right"). The NFL still has CB privileges yet...and we seem to have this one team over on the east side of Wisconsin that's in that game yet. Walker can't touch them. If you're going to come to a gun-fight, better forget the knife...it ain't cutting it...pardon the pun.

Seems to me those negotiating with unions, and tax payers like you, didn't have the jam to stand up to the threat of a strike. You, figuratively speaking, gave away the farm. Now you whine about how the unions pulled your pants off. So instead of having a pair, you the tax payer, want a law to paste a set where they should be.

Did you miss the last 6 years or so? Remember Jim "Diamond Jim" Doyle?

Remember the last few years in that little town about 100 miles to the south of Green Bay? Madtown? The land of loose morals and the spent-'til-you-drop-your-grandkids Assembly and Senate? That town?

As for recall? That ain't gonna' even start happening 'til after next year starts. Any pol that's just elected has one year or so in office before they can be "recalled." Soooo, Walker will be around for a little while yet.
