CNC Machine?

Does anyone here have access to a CNC machine? There's a place who'll pay for a makers plate from something and I'd like to have one milled if possible... anyone have any ideas? Ideally the metal would be bronze.

it would only be 6-8 inches long (maybe shorter)
and 3-4 inches tall and 1.5-2 inches wide. It would be a replicate builders plate from a boiler

We've used these guys through work: http://www.solidconcepts.com/

They do a lot of one-off jobs. Their rates are pretty decent. If you have a CAD part file (and possibly a drawing), it'd be an easy procedure

Have you contacted any of the outfits that cast bronze plaques?

I've contacted a few places. Even a place that bronze's baby shoes. so far no dice, but I'm not giving up. I'll call a few more milling and metal places.. if I had a blacksmiths shop I'd cast it in steel and Plate it bronze...

Do you have a picture of what you want? I do have some CNC mills. I have a ton of projects though. I still have to learn how to setup the machines I have. I have run CNC lathes and mills as a machinist.

I would also like to see a picture. there are a few issues that will make the job not suited for a mill, if you have sharp inside corners or some other features that make milling difficult or drive the mill cutter too small. This is what will price you out on small jobs

Some of that would depend on the machine capabilities. Mainly the RPM of the spindle. Smaller cutters and text would probably need a 10K spindle or such. I have three CNC mill. One has a 10K spindle. The other two have a 9K-45K spindle. I haven't setup or programed any of them. I do have the one with the 10K spindle running.

if he needs sharp inside corners it doesnt matter how fast youre turning the tool, it will need to be EDM'ed thats why I asked. if hes asking for a pure CNC job and they no quote. it may be because onesee twosees are not in the business plan if its too much setup or involves multiple setups and machines

OK, it finally sunk in. I was thinking the bottom to side wall, and not the actual shape of the lettering. Also, the point that a lot of shops with CNC want at least a small lot size to run.
