The federal reserve didn't exist before 1913. "The country" would be fine. The government, however, would shrink considerably.

Thanks for the link. I liked what he wrote. What he does not point out is that if the Fed were issuiing stock, then they would be public and open to an audit. Not a bad thing.

The wheels of government turn very slowly, and the public is used to that. Ron Paul wants to dump sudden wholesale changes on the masses, and turn a lot of big programs upside down. Needless to say that prospect makes a lot of people nervous. I like Ron Paul but he just will not grab the momentum he needs to pull it off. Plus he gets all squeaky and high pitched when he's excited or frustrated. Not good. Cain's ideas are different but not too over the top. Many folks relate to what he's saying, evidenced by the latest straw polls.

Beck did indeed do some shock jocking, but he also talked common sense on many issues. Many of his guests talked common sense as well, including Herman.

As far as him being the POTUS, I haven't seen too many folks that wouldn't be better than what we've got. Donald Duck comes to mind.

A Cain presidency would probably throw us into a depression of the sort we've never seen, but it would be interesting to see two black men compete for the presidency. That would make some racist heads explode.

For one thing, the United States is not a business. More important, Cain's comments during the campaign seem to show that he has no idea what he is talking about when it comes to public policy. One might think that such a successful businessman would have a better handle on such things, but he has shown otherwise.
