Larry, American business was going down the toilet long before the current administraition got anywhere near it.

Anything specific, or just a general feeling?

I admit that I have not followed him closely. Three comments of his that come to mind are:

He said something about not having muslims in his cabinet because they might not be loyal (or some such nonsense). He later tried to back off on that one.

He said he would veto any bill longer than three pages. He tried to back off on that one, but was not convincing.

His 9-9-9 plan.

Let me see.... The current President promised the moon to get into office. Since then he has raised the debt $4T in 2 1/2 years, raised the unemployment rate dramatically, thrown money into private business that has often not paid off (Solyndra)

So when will his promises start bearing fruit?

All that still beats the strangle hold that the current whitehouse occupant has on business. Having someone that has never held public office sounds like a distinct improvement.

He will have to explain the muslim thing on his own. It won't make or break his candidacy for me. I'm not sure the country is ready for muslim high office holders, and he's verbalizing that stance. Will it ever be?

I read an analysis of 9-9-9 somewhere and it was found to be close to revenue neutral. I haven't seen anyone shoot it down as unworkable. At the very least it is predictable. In contrast, I currently have no idea what my tax obligation will be for this year until Turbo Tax is done figuring it out.

Great point! I agree with his detailed explanation. He means no RADICAL Muslims. I don't think we want a Bin Laden in a cabinet position.

Americans love gimmicks and sound bites. If you're going to reach the American public, you have to speak in a way that you'll be heard. I'm assuming that a smart guy like Cain probably knows that as well as I do. It doesn't mean there's no substance behind what he's saying.

I don't know, Larry. Were you perhaps taking home office supplies and stuff like that?

Sorry. I had to try and throw a little humor into this. I had no idea I was stirring up such a controversy!

Yes, nobody in the White House will be able to bring about massive changes on this scale. I just think it would be nice to have someone with a demonstrated track record of success and some new ideas in a position of influence. We will either be making some big changes in the very near future or else I think be facing catastrophic changes in the not-too-distant future. I would prefer the former, personally.

Herman Cain has my support 100%. I look around at all the other wanna-bees and see a lot of empty suits (and dresses). Until he tells me the moon is made of green cheese, he is my guy. It's not about pizza, it's about taking a company that was on the verge of bankruptcy and turning it into a profitable company that employs thousands in its 600 stores. He also turned tides at Burger King, Coca Cola and Pillsbury.

I also support him because he is NOT A LAWYER!!!!!

American corporations are currently sitting on massive amounts of capital, but are unwilling to commit it to expansion because our government has created such a state of uncertainty as to what its future policies will be, that companies cannot plan. Our president and Congress are standing squarely in the way of progress and showing no sign they are willing to get out of the way.

I get all warm and fuzzy feeling when I see progressives and liberals trashing a republican/conservative candidate. makes me think the GOP may be on the right track.

The primaries are PARTY elections--where each party selects the candidate it wants to run against the other party's candidate in the General election. Liberals/Progressives were all excited about the McCain candidacy at primary time, but reverted to the democratic party standard-bearer in the general election. Why we anyone in the GOP care what liberals/ Progressives think about a GOP candidate?
