Here's a novel idea...

Let's herd the OWSers over to a large, open lot, then have a few dump-trucks filled with the unspent "stimulus funds" bring the booty over and dump it into a large, green pile.

Then, have the OWSers select one from among the great un-washed masses assembled on that lot and have the lucky one light a match and burn the cash.

Then all of them can huddle around, sing "Cum-On-Me" (or is it "Kum-Bye-Yaa"?) and hold hands and smell one another...

They get to stay warm and "O" can come by and fire-up the crowd with hope and change-ee slogans and promises of more "stimulus cash" for the masses.

Ain't too much different from what's happened already...

Idea: how about letting deflation in housing continue, not try to prop it up, so both partners in a couple don't HAVE to work 40+ hr/week just to afford their f*cking mortgages? Full employment isn't necessarily needed nor desirable. i.e. a lot of women want to work to be occupied, but don't want to HAVE to work to make ends meet for their family.

Idea2: slap a 150% "environmental tariff" on goods from China until they clean up their act -- after all, their pollution will affect us all eventually. Dollar devaluation would have other undesirable consequences, so we pretty much have to go with a tariff.

Idea3: invest heavily in weaning the US off of oil once and for all, so we'll be immune to oil price fluctuations that tend to screw over the economy once every decade or so. Hydrogen infrastructure. Nuclear plants. Wind/solar where appropriate. Charging stations. Railroad electrification. Plenty of work to be done there.

Also, there is a boat load of money over seas that could be employed in the US in ways that would create jobs, if Congress was willing to waive the tax penalties or at least some of them, if those dollars were brought into the coffers of the American companies to whom they belong. Our government is failing us in a huge way.

I would say that we should just vote everybody out, but who would we replace them with?

I believe that you are expressing the sentiments of our founding fathers, however, Bot. They seemed to think the less our government did, the better. They meddle in way too many areas of our lives now.
If the Congress and president cannot agree it means we have two conflicting visions of America representing two large proportions of the population. "They" hate my version, I "hate" theirs.

We can remain at impasse or we can have some pure dang genius come up with a compromise acceptable to all factions or we can hope the next election will help Congress and the president focus on a single vision.

Until that happens I am fine with corporations sitting on their assets until the politicians get off their asses or we chart a unified direction for the politicians to implement.
