I've read that NASA and cohorts carefully don't allow returned astronauts from the space station to be filmed upon their arrival because they have to be carried out on stretchers.

Weightlessness sounds like it would be fun but apparently it has a major downside.

And the suspension of a corolla trying to hold up an old mercedes benz sedan at that.

Kindly quote a source for that claim.

Why, the Holy Bible of course. It gives a complete genealogy from Adam and Eve to Jesus. If you add up the numbers given, it's about 4000 years. Add the 2000 or so years since the birth of Jesus, voila: you get 6000 years. As far as any other earth like planets in existence that may have life, well, the bible doesn't mention it, so it can't be possible.

Book of Genesis?

Also, as I understand it, the destruction of the universe is going to be based on events on Earth.

However, Vatican Astronomer Says It's Possible for Both to Co-Exist

"Just as there is a multiplicity of creatures on earth, there can be other beings, even intelligent, created by God. This is not in contrast with our faith because we can't put limits on God's creative freedom," he said.

The whole moon landing farce will soon be blown wide apart, The spot where they filmed it is in whats now called Big Bend Ranch,, They got a bunch of frijole growers from ole mexico to come up and pull what little signs of vegintaion was around.

There are actually quite a few photographs of ISS crewmembers retun to earth, showing them in gurney type chairs.

Perhaps artificial gravity can negate some of the less than desirable health effects.

Maybe. But it'll likely be decades if not centuries before we have a meaningful presence off earth. It'll depends on how long it takes the Chinese to get manned spaceflight to a level comparable to where the USA was back in the 60's with Apollo. They'll set up bases on the moon etc but there won't be any humans venturing to any "other earths" in the forseeable future.

This is a fascinating discovery though. I recall in my childhood the accepted wisdom was that it was unlikely there were other planets beyond our solar system but when you started to inquire into why you found that it was really only ignorance. The technology available simply couldn't find them and there was no likely way to change that.

Shows what major advances in science and engineering have been made over the last thirty years that we now know not only of hundreds of other planetary systems but have actually discovered a kind of earth in a habitable zone.

- Peter.

I have little doubt that their are earth like planets elsewhere and almost certainly planets with life of some kind on them. Finding one that would be suitable for our bodies, and getting to it is the tricky part.

And this new planet is more than twice earth's radius? If it indeed has water and can support vegetation, vegetation and other life forms will almost certainly be present. And if there's water but no life, we're going to somehow have Noah's Ark in a storeroom on the spaceship? What if it has critters something like dinosaurs? They will have spent their entire evolutionary process in the presence of that planet's gravitational field, which will almost certainly be significantly stronger than ours.

So in waltz earthlings, in a weakened state, promptly fall on their faces and can't get up.

Oh boy. Sign me up.

I say put a robotically placed telescope on the moon and send robotic missions out to explore the solar system and maybe beyond. The rest is fantasy booooo-$h!t.

Depending on the technology leaps we might be able to do it in a century or less. Of course all of it is moot if we cannot get a FTL propulsion system going. Once we do, it will spur technology in the direction. I believe.

Well, that was then. Now there is a new ignorance. When the technology comes along to change that, we will probably say the same thing in 50 years about it.

And in the next 100 years, who knows what will be yielded by the discoveries we make.

I'm sure someone said something like that about sailing off the edge of the earth, space flight, sound barrier, etc, etc. 100 years ago, if you told someone what we would have today, it too would be fantasy if not physically impossible. There were all kinds of things that could happen if you exceeded the sound barrier. It couldn't even be done and we would be foolish to speculate on what would happen if it could. There was a time we could not go beyond a certain point in the sea or monsters would eat us alive too. And if you told someone that someday we could travel underwater, well, you should be locked up.
