As are many others so if you are going to blame someone else, why not start another thread and list everyone involved in the process and not just your favorite whipping boy.
No one but Bush signed the march for our troops. Bush was not directed to invade Iraq or Af'stan. Furthermore, Bush lied to congress, and the nation, about the threat posed to this country by Iraq and he lied to congress in a letter sent March 19 2003 about the participation of Iraq in the attacks on Sep 11. I have no problem at all hating Bush for what he has done, and I question the morality of anyone that doesn't.

So you are saying that congress has zero part in this at all? I'm sure congress could have stopped him had they the stones to do so.

I don't give a rip who signed what order. Anyone and everyone involved is what I go for. Anyone who agreed with it or was in the position to stop it but didn't, well, same barrel. If you didn't do your due diligence and simply accepted what was handed down, you are negligent and same thing.

you know, when you're dead, you're dead. the body is just a worthless piece of flesh.

however, all these christians and muslims and jews (and others, i am sure) think that it's something sacred. so, yes, it's a bit hypocritical for george w and the rest to send cannon fodder to war on some holy mission, and then not have the decency to treat the deceased with no respect.

regardless, to act surprised at the cynicism of those in power is a bit... naive?

Would have it been that expensive for the Air Force to dedicate a parcel of land for the purpose of burying the ashes in a respectful manner, perhaps with some form of brief, non-religious memorial service? Assuming that a member of the military made the decision to dump these remains in a landfill, how did he justify it in his own mind?

Welcome to the party. This has been in the news for more than one month.

Bringing those who weren't paying attention up to speed:

Whistleblowers complained. The Air Force did a crappy job holding those responsible accountable. The Office of Special Counsel called the Air Force out for their crappy job. The SecDef said "you guys screwed up and you owe me a better answer." That report isn't out yet.

But nobody is going to jail and no one is being demoted. Col Edmonson should be made to retire, the civilians in charge who reprimanded the whistleblowers should be fired. That's about the best you can expect, but that won't happen. They'll be re-assigned at their current grades, not promoted in the future and retire sometime later.

You can read the OSC report from the NYT link: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/09/us/senior-air-force-officials-disciplined-over-handling-of-human-remains.html?pagewanted=all

Here's a snippet:

In these instances the report demonstrates a pattern of the Air Force's failure to acknowledge culpability for wrongdoing relating to the treatment of remains of service members and their dependents. While the report reflects a willingness to find paperwork violations and error, with the exception of the cases of missing portions, the findings stop short of accepting accountability for failing to handle

remains with the requisite "reverence, care, and dignity befitting them and the circumstances."

And no, Hitler didn't treat Jews better. Get a grip.

I'm sure this guy will land at the Veterans Administration they strive to screw up like this. I don't see this as much of a suprise since the administrative branch of the military is a model of failure and most of the people in it are failures themselves thats how they ended up there.

They have plots in National Cemetaries just for this purpose that is what makes this so bazaar. I think he was/is just plain old lazy.

Yeah, blame it on Bush. He flew those planes into the WTC. He should have been recognized for being able to survive such horrific crashes.

Iraq was not part of the the Sep 11 attacks. Bush even said so.
Bush killed more Americans than the terrorists.

And if you want to put it that way, so did everyone who didn't stop it since then which includes your precious democrats who also signed on to the bandwagon. But since they are not Republicans, I guess you won't want to admit that part and just stick to your favorite whipping boy.
