You do remember that it was hardly an unanimous vote by Democratic Representative or Senators, right?

In the House, Democratic votes were 82 for and 126 against. That's 61% against.

In the Senate, Democratic votes were 29 for and 21 against. 42% against.

Opposition by Republican lawmakers in the House and Senate was less than 3% in both Houses.

Irrelevant.

This means in the House there are 82 guilty dems and in the Senate there are 29 guilty dems for that vote. Why was something not done after that? We both know that the war runs on money. Who controls the purse strings controls the war. Further to that, I believe the balance of power shifted after 06. Presidency changed after 08.

Point is, the Dem hands are not pure as the driven snow. But that won't help Chas' rant, will it?

It's been all over the news, everywhere. The whole country is outraged.

Irrelevant to you perhaps, but it does show that it wasn't a complete rubber stamp of the Resolution, which many people fail to remember. Facts are good when memories start to distort.

It wasn't a rubber stamp, I agree but it does mean that both parties have dirty hands. In fact, I'll bet some of the dirty hands are still around.

And who held the purse strings AFTER the first 6 years which ended when again? How many years has it been AFTER that first 6 years? While we are on that, if we look at MTI's numbers, assuming he didn't lie or fudge, weren't some Dems also voting for it? Why don't they also get star billing from you? Are they not as guilty as the 97% of the Republicans that voted "yea"?

I thought it takes years before any policy enacted today comes to fruition?

If that is not true then our current situation should have been fixed already since the Bush era is over and it is the Obama era.

If it is true then the current govt is paid dividends from the last or paying the bills of the last.

I thought the vote count important to remind that there was a sizeable oppostion to the resolution, though not enough to block passage. There's no hiding the fact that many members of the Democratic party endorsed it, but lately there have been references, not just in this thread, that Congress went along with the resolution, some would argue, to avoid appearing unpatriotic. The actual voting numbers tend to dispel the idea that there wasn't opposition.
