Years ago I had a 70-something Subaru 4wd wagon. The first brand new car I ever bought. It's rear windshield washer spray nozzle consisted of a little copper tube that stuck out about three eighths of an inch. I discovered that it was bendy enough that I could aim it backwards. It had enough spray force that I could nail a tailgater right in the windshield. Worked like a charm. That was before road rage became fashionable though, people took hints a lot better then.

LOL! You guys are great! Nothing like the countermeasure portion of motoring fun!

Annoying for smart people because we can talk and drive better than the morons on our worst days. But we still have to suffer.

In the end traffic deaths are pretty low, let it happen, who cares.

The real problem is that most people are as stupid as can be, and are incapable of thinking ahead while driving. IE if I tailgate this person I won't get where I'm going faster. Simple thoughts like that never enter their little brains.

I think the serious tailgaters do it in attempt to intimidate.

You have a point. I've sometimes wondered if the rise in aggressive driving habits isn't in parallel somehow with rising feelings of a loss of control in life in general. Maybe the only time these poor DB's feel like they're in control of ANYTHING is when they're behind the wheel. Classic low self esteem bully behavior.

As a life long motorcyclist, I am dead set against anyone talking, texting, eating or smacking their kids or anything else that will take their attention off the road long enough to kill me. Don't even get me started on tailgaters...

one thing about tailgaters.i drive a jetta, which sets roughly 3/8 of an inch off the road.it pisses people off that i usually have alot of space between me and the guy in front of me,but i have to as i never know what kinda roadkill is comin out from under the vehicle in front of me.buddy of mine hit a raccoon and cause about 2000 dollars damage to his jetta so i ain't taking chances.so i like to play with em.i see a carcess and deliberately wait til the last second to swerve.and they usually plow right over em.oh did i mention i love skunks.let em take that smell home to mama.

Along these lines, this past year there was a motorcyclist on a buisy, divided highway just this past year and someone talking on their mobile phone ran a stop sign smack in front of him. It killed that motorcyclist to death.

From where I sit, I expect the kid on the phone didn't realize at the time how potentially deadly his actions could be. It doesn't bring anyone back to life though.

You don't need the light continuously to make the point. A strobe will do the job with much lower power demand -

OPTIMA LIGHTING Golden Strobe Light

Strobe Lights

You should do what some old tanks and trucks did with the oil that hits the hot exhaust manifolds, spewwing a cloud of oil smoke in their direction while you're at it!

One time somebody cut me off at night as I was following the lane towards the on-ramp to another freeway, he was on the inner lane so had to get out into his correct freeway but did so in haste he didn't look ahead enough. Fine, I slow down and let him in and just let it be. But I got curious what made him do it so late, so I grabbed my Maglite LED three D-cell battery powered flashlight and lit him up. He looked into the light like deer to headlights and was yapping away with his passenger.

And the woman who got me involved in a low-speed bump on the freeway, changed her license plate but did not fix the front bumper (she hit me from behind). Grabbed my camera and caught her yapping away on the phone. Should I forward this photo to her insurance company?

Angry

Yah do it, Patrick..

Send that photo to her Auto Insurance company too with an explanatory letter attached explaining what she did to you because of that idiocy.

With luck it will get bucked over to underwriting and they will punish her before she kills someone.

Those morons..they are EVERYWHERE.

All cars need to have MANDATORY cell phone jammers installed in them before they can be licensed for the street.

Thousands of people per year are now being killed in auto wrecks each year because of cell phone abuse and distraction while driving.

Some of you guys seem to get tailgated an awful lot. Even when I had very slow vehicles (think 240D and a 60 hp lifted Samurai) I didn't get that very much. I kept my slowness in the slow lane as much as possible and if someone wanted to pass, I generally made it easy for them as soon as it was safe to do so. My biggest beef is with people doing less than the speed limit in the fast lane.

Take that 240D on a road trip up to Jersey, New York or Connecticut. Speeding, tailgating, land drifting and yakking on cell phones all while flipping you off. and, around the holidays it gets even worse.

I can use the center lane............or the right lane. Doesn't matter. The DB comes up within 20' and won't pass in the available lane. Then, suddenly, after five minutes, they get the brilliant idea that they are not going fast enough.

I've ordered the cell phone jammer..........3W............going to eliminate that problem in a hurry.

Is there such a thing as a jammer that could jam cell signals in nearby cars? That'd be a fun toy.
