Winter spent the winter in Europe this year.

Miserably hot and dry in Central Florida. I look forward to more than a few weekends of cool/cold weather to do heavy work (tree cutting, digging, road repair , bushhogging) and there has been almost none. Most days are about 80- some higher. Then, when I decided to sneak a few bean seeds in the ground in January, they popped up and 3 days later we got a frost....

May be the lightest winter on record this far north on the eastern seaboard. Only snowed twice locally with any real accumulation and the average temperatures in general seem much higher than typical. Especially noticeable is the high winds occassionally present do not seem to be as prevelant either.

The local guys with contractural snowplowing clients have cleaned up so to speak. The only thing I remember hearing although I have not really paid attention is the jet stream is different than normal this winter..

I wonder how this is going to effect the spring and early summer at this point? Especially in the areas where the light winter has been really abnormal.

Early nectar flow. Possibly 2 full nectar flows this summer which will help honey production.

Yes this winter is getting on my nerves. Last year we had drifts that were feet deep and I missed meetings, got stuck in a crappy parking lot on numerous occasions and had to go through two feet of water at one point due to a backed up storm drain....all with the SDL.

This year I have the Gwagen and nice sunny days. Timing

I know everybody does it that way, but the code generally requires the concrete to cure to at least 50% (?) of its design strength--usually 3-4 days. But few Officials enforce that stipulation. As long as the footings and foundations don't crack you are good to go. Concrete is an amazing material. In my years testing concrete I always marveled how a contractor could take a 3000PSI mix and add too much water, pour well after the allowed time, not properly cure it, and it still would break at over 35004000 PSI. Yet a 5000 PSI mix, if looked at funny would often fail to make its strength.
