Yeah I want a diesel for my next truck. But the only problem is modern emissions have killed them.

i can understand where you are coming from. last year i sold the sd, and bought my wife a focus. i had it all planned out, i was gonna dump 2500 into it. (it already had a new front end, brakes, and engine seals) planned on doing everything possible to get it back to a new car. had the parts in the shopping cart on here, went outside to look at something and noticed a puddle that started that day. the damn water pump was now leaking.

i know, it was less than a $100 part and it was original, but that pushed me over. said eff this, and picked the focus up. managed to get an 01 for $2000!

we got rid of my moms 190 as well last year. needed way too much work.

i picked up an 02 f250 with the 7.3 psd and a 6 speed behind it. by far the best truck i have ever owned. more than enough power, spacious, and rides like a caddy compared to my tacoma. also fills that diesel void.

R Leo,

I can understand wanting to thin out your collection of older models, but I hope your not giving up on Mercedes entirely!
Surely $7.5K could buy a nice '00-'03 ML, no? Planning on rejoining the Mercedes fray later this year myself.

Given the grief an ML has repeatedly dealt on one of my friends (three, count 'em, THREE engine control computers no less), no way would I have one them.

The pains of dealing with a 30 year old vehicle would pale in comparison to the cost and aggravation caused by that POS.

You'd have to be mentally challenged to buy one.

You never told me you were out my way! Well 1/2 days drive from here.
What would posses you to go there? Fishing? It is a nice holiday spot.
Maybe it felt like 1000 miles, unless you got lost, it is just a nice scenic drive down the coast from Sydney.

Best of luck R. Leo! There are only so many hours in a day and it's good to know you are prioritizing rather than overloading yourself.

I've enjoyed your writings over the years and enjoyed meeting you at Mt. Vernon. I'm sorry that along the way it came to a point where you had to tell me that you didn't care for me any more.

Best of luck,
Larry

Hello Click!

What's up? Well let's see. I've spent much of the weekends taking care of my Mom and her affairs. Her hip broke in January and had an infection after surgery putting her on the brink of death. She got much better and we're about to get her out of rehab. Been flying over there alot so building lots of flight time in the process.

I got my manual transmission 300E out of the back of the shop about a month ago after two years of storage, fixed the air conditioner and just put it up in good general condition. Like R.Leo I don't plan on keeping a bunch of MB's up. This is the only one.

How have you been?

Yes, from everything I've read and heard, this would indeed be a VERY challenging vehicle to keep in good working order.

Dude, I've been everywhere carrying SWMBO's luggage. UK, Denmark, Finland, China (2X), Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Africa, Holland, Belgium, France, Poland, Austria...unfortunately, I wasn't able to make ALL the trips. Missed out on Korea, Taiwan, Tanzania, American Samoa, Palau, Ponpei.

The trip to Syd was all biz. We had some friends that lived in Metung back in '06 and when C-Dub was finished in Syd, they picked us up and drove us back to their place in Metung via Canberra and Cape Conran. Spent 4-5 days there with them in Metung and then rode the train to Melbourne.

Very nice.

I dont think so... I have an ML430 that I beat the living crap out of, and its holding up quite well.... This is my second ML too! Had an ML320 before this one, and it went through hell.

Heres a picture from my last outing in the ML:

Im building custom bumpers for it to keep the clearance to the wheels. Pretty interesting beast to take offroad.
