What you'd expect from Top Gear you mean?
Top gear now less of a motoring show and more a show about 3 men with mid life crisis. But it's good entertainment.

My brother had one in the eighties when was stationed in Germany.

He said the threshhold covers on the rocker panels said 826 when you sat in the car....... vice 928 when entering.

He loved the car, and regrets not bringing it back when he left the service.

Saw a black 928 GTS parked in Beverly Hills yesterday, still a beautiful car that aged pretty well.

Go to Rennlist.com for the best information. The 928 is a great car that handles great even for todays standards. Lots of people running 928 race cars and there are some beating brand new 911 GT3's on the track.

Parts can be expensive but the cars are reliable once sorted out. If you are thinking about buying one, take to a 928 expert and get a PPI done. It will be the best money you ever spent. Don't buy one with problems.

The prices are starting to rise rather quickly for nice examples. Some of the 928 GTS's with low mileage and good condition can go for $100,000+. GT's and S4 can reach $30,000. However, for the prices of some of the non-GTS's, I'd buy a 230 SL600, CL600, or CL65. There is no way I'd spend $100K on a GTS when you can get a much nicer, faster, and possibly more dependable car for much cheaper.

Back in '85 (just got my driver's license) I had a friend's '78 928 (auto) up to 120 at night, speed limit was 45. Stoopid kids.

I think they only went about 167? Ish max? I was able to hit 162. Cost me a half tank of gas and a few quarts of oil.

That could be the stupidest thing I have ever done...... Maybe not

167 --Yeah, that's fast. Hopefully it was on a deserted road in Mexico.

Same guy with the 928 bought a new-back-then 911 Turbo. We had that beast close to your speed. Young and dumb.

Love old Porsches.

A friend has a pretty prestine 91 (I think?) 928. Very impressive car in terms of technology and performance. It gets up and goes pretty well, but then it's no E55...

He says his is pretty reliable and he drives it 4 days a week.
