NYC's dear mayor at it again

... he wants to ban soft drinks over 20 oz from being sold at restaurants and venues, but he's firmly against a bike helmet law. I'd call him a nanny-stater, yet he seems more and more like an idiosyncratic old eccentric since he's not even consistent in his nanny statism.

You're a little late on your assessment Speed. He already exposed himself for what he is last year by the way he dealt with the Occupiers.

BUT, even if you're late to the NYC Mayor party, your analysis is spot on.

What's your complaint about his dealings with the occupiers (out of curiosity)? That he eventually evicted them, or that he let them stay as long as he did? Or both?

I think it was rather an astute application of your comment about his inconsistency vis a vis the occupiers...

Spd,

I meant absolutely no harm toward you in what I said. Your analysis really is spot on IMHO. I was only trying to point out his mishandling of the occupiers last year. IMHO he let them go way too far. Giulliani(sp?) would have never let that go that far.

Please, in all seriousness, accept my apologies if what I wrote was taken as offensive. It was NOT meant that way.

Best regards

Dude. I wasn't offended, just genuinely curious. And you've answered my question, thx.

It's just a matter of time before he's GONE (19 months to be precise).

Let's hope that the next administration doesn't undo all the good work Mayor Bloomberg has done. I had lunch at a place called Manna's this Tuesday. It's on 125th St. in Harlem. I wouldn't even have thought about doing something like this during the Dinkin's years. I spent the rest of the day enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of Manhattan (no tourist stuff), from Harlem to the Lower East Side, and several places in between. I spent a little money here and there, always at the small neighborhood stores. It was a very enjoyable day, and I'll probably go back in a few weeks to explore some different places. I applaud Mayor Bloomberg for making NYC a safer place. As far as I'm concerned, the Mayor's pros outweigh the cons by a ton.

I'm not a New Yorker, but from everything I've read, Bloomberg inherited the clean up from Gilliani(sp?)

Gentrification happened in many cities since the 90s.
As far as Bloomberg, I'll agree that he did a lot of good work in his first two terms, but now is getting a bit loopy.

Speed,

You're just saying this because he doesn't want you to buy your 36 ounce soft drink!

You applaud Bloomberg for making NYC "a safer place".

However, if you look at the place when he took office 10 years ago, you'll find that it was basically in the same condition that it is today. It was Rudy Guiliani who did all the legwork to get it from the state of affairs of Dinkins to what Bloomberg inherited.

See if you can cite any accomplishments made specifically by Bloomberg with regard to health and safety.............???

If think the soda ban is pretty silly if adopted as is in NYC, but since nobody else wants to raise the issue, I applaud Bloomberg for the attention.

We are mindlessly killing ourselves with this useless crap and we are all paying for it, some more than others. It was bad enough when it was a 12 oz sugar Coke 20 years ago- now the norm is a quart of artificially colored artificial chemicals in polluted carbonated water ( look up how they make it) , sweetened with corn syrup.

Let's talk about this , at least.

I see "kids" coming to work here first thing in the morning and eating a bag of Cheetos and a Big Gulp. For Breakfast.

How sweet it is.

There's the equivalent of anywheree between 8-17 packages of sugar in the average non-diet carbonated 12 oz canned soft drink in this country.

A can of Monster energy drink is about 13 packets.
