Sad news about TXBill

Bill Makemson died Tuesday. I don't see his username on her now but he had been a member on and off for many years. I don't know the details but he'd had serious health problems for a number of years that he had mentioned on here. I learned about it from his Facebook page.

Yes, that's right I think that was his most recent user name.

I am very saddened to hear this!

I met him at an MShop get together at a picnic ground ca. 2002 or so. He was a nice guy. He cooked a gazillion hamburgers for everyone. Gave away drinking water. Drove from a long distance hauling all the stuff necessary to facilitate the event.

In the last year or so, he took great exception to things that I said, and developed an EXTREME distaste for me. In spite of what he and others said, I NEVER had ill feelings toward him personally. I only disapproved of his lifestyle, not HIM. He and many others never believed that, but it is the truth.

RIP Tex! I'm sure he's driving around in a pristine MB diesel as we speak!

He was definitely here when I arrived in early 2002 so he could easily have been one of this forum's earliest members. He had just posted within the last month or so that his days of working on old MB diesels were over.

I think Bill and I were the same vintage. He started American Courier and invited everyone to his tailgate parties before the Houston Texans games, then quit the forum a couple times but came back as Amanda Love to taunt the folks here.

Speaking of health problems, I wonder about JCE and RickG.

I first logged on January of 2000 and he wasn't much after that. Probably began posting in mid 2000 or so.

I don't remember RickG, but I sure do remember JCE. I wasn't aware he had any health problems. Wasn't he from SoCal?

Yes he's from San Diego. Rick was the guy who moved to Utah.

Another acquaintance who's passing we mourn and reflect that our lives are finite as well. Let's try to do the best we can for ourselves and friends, maybe hurt as few people as possible and above all enjoy all that life affords to help us enjoy it!

That's by far the best way to honour someone's memory I think.
