I think we should all base our opinions of candidates based on their blunders when publicly speaking.

Exactly. They should be held to every single word they ever say. It's only fair that they should be held to a standard of 100% perfection at all times. After all, that's the standard I have always met.

Hmmm.... 100% perfection. No, that's asking too much even for the stinky politicians. I WOULD, however, expect them to come somewhere CLOSE with their campaign promises, however. Saying he would cut the deficit in half? Nowhere close on that one!

I noticed that Biden recently gave credit to "Will and Grace" for promoting tolerance of gay people. It reminded me of when Quayle blamed "Murphy Brown" for not promoting family values. Quayle was pummeled mercilessly for that one, but I didn't hear much criticism of Biden's "Will and Grace" comment. I see two possible explanations:
Liberal bias: Claims of liberal bias in the media are mostly a bunch of baloney, but that might be what's going on here. People respect Biden: Quayle was a jackass from the get-go. Biden has foot-in-mouth disease, but is generally seen as a decent and competent guy. He has earned some benefit of the doubt which Quayle doesn't deserve. |

I think the difference in reaction is much simpler . . . Quayle's comment about Murphy Brown was to denigrate and was disconnected from the national view of support for single parents, while the Will & Grace comment by Biden was reflective of the growing support for same sex marriage.
Like many other social conservatives, Quayle failed to realize that the country had moved on the issue and was friing an early shot on the so called "war against women." |

I think I could reword this to represent what you are actually saying.... "Blah, blah, blah, blah...I hate Barack Obama, blah, blah, blah, blah..." And the furnace thing again? Seriously Larry, when do you think you're supposed to repair your furnace? Winter??? Bet you close the barn door after the cows get out too.... ![]()

Larry, the two presidetns with the most business experience were Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush. Hmm, what does that say about business experience?
George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton . . . no real private sector credentials. Frankly, your "lemonade stand" argument isn't as refreshing as you may think. Last edited by MTI; 06-12-2012 at 04:56 PM. |

Why not? He embodies your political ideologies and he's a 'successful' private businessman - what's not to like?
