Carrier counting is a great start. Damned if I know why we need so many nor why the ships are named for politicians.

Probably a coincidence.

I don't know exactly how Chinggis did it. It is an impressive legacy.
Since the Crusades? (I have no idea if the Visigoths or Vandals ever tried to invade the ME. Please share any insight you have.)

Their you go so no one has really successfully ever invaded the Middle East, so my point is, why would we?

Since we have no way of winning this war short of nuking them, why bother?

Are you saying you do not advocate nuking them?

Why? Ask Donald Rumsfeld, the disgraced former sec'y of defense and pharmaceutical magnate who got rich selling vaccines and drugs to the military. Or Dick Cheney who also made a few bucks.

Why bother having troops over there? The point is moot. That ship has sailed. We are there. Or do you mean, If we can't bludgeon them why not nuke them?

Yes, I am sure. Health care for all was a major plank in his platform.

I certainly do not recall all that much attention given to HC during the campaign. It was a plank in the platform, but many things end up as planks only to be forgotten after the votes are counted.

Now your off on a tangent, stay focused, stay with me, let me spell it out for you again.

My point, which I felt was pretty clear in the above post was that we shouldn't have troops over their, since its not a situation we can prevail in with the means that we are willing to employ.

Let me observe though from your response, Mr. come on the forum and start being abrasive right away. You seem to be trying to fit my viewpoint into your little political box. I don't fall into your little silly left vs right box so your going to fail their.

Its a form of debate, you throw an extremism out their, very popular on the internet.

OTOH I'm not a fan of low key conflicts, I'm more of a total war Sherman Doctrine adherent, so in that case nuke away. Or you can view war as an extension of politics, in which case nuking would defeat the purpose. Still I think Sherman made some better points than Clausewitz did, but it depends on where you come down on such matters.

I guess it would stand to reason that if the people who killed the people are bad then the people who killed the people who killed the people would be good since killing bad people would be a good thing unless of course there is some gray are of if the people who killed the people are truly bad then we might have some issues. Just saying.

So you're not actually an advocate of nuking them it was just a form of arguement.

Ben, it is within the rights of the OP to contact a Moderator and ask them to close the thread. I think they might also be able to delete it.

I'm personally enjoying the thread, but AFAIC you are completely within your rights to request it closed and/or deleted. I think that there are even some posters here who feel that it is the OP's responsibility to take such actions if it has, in their view, gotten out of hand.

Best regards,
