In my little town
I grew up believing
God keeps His eye on us all
And He used to lean upon me
As I pledged allegiance to the wall
Lord I recall
My little town

And try to get off the kick that I an trying to make myself 'feel bigger' than you. I have simply been asking you questions, because much of what you have been posting is foreign to me. My self esteem is functioning fine, and I apologize if yours is not.

As for faith, I possess a very strong faith. It's just that my faith does not come with a silly book or churches, and I interpret my faith on my own terms.
Kind of cancels out the faith thing.

I guess what I should have asked was, are you surprised that someone might be inclined to question such a non-explanation?

If you mean to imply that faith in some deity is by definition incompatible with acceptance of scientific theories such as evolution. That is false. As far as I am aware, a majority of Christians accept evolution as scientific fact.

Trying to explain anything intangible to those demanding tangible is impossible.

Is light a particle, a wavelength or a combination? The answer will depend on your scientific need.

Backing faith in facts is compatible but only believing when science proves it is not faith.

At the opposite end, those that insist that the intangible is tangible have their work cut out for them.

I agree, it's a fool's errand.

That's called the wave-particle duality. It's a hack that allows one some understanding of electromagnetism without the need of learning quantum mechanics. Sort of like using F=ma, instead of the Schrödinger equation.

Likewise, attempting to derive measurements from the Bible is almost guaranteed to yield results that conflict with scientifically derived ones.

What's the point of your post?? To make yourself feel better about your lack of faith, or is it to make you feel bigger than me? If either is the case, I'm sorry that you have that low a level of self esteem...

I've never been one to hide my beliefs on this board or anywhere else in my life. In my house, we pray for the sick and afflicted, pray for the government and our country, and pray for strength to continue on each day. We also thank God for all that He's given us...the food on the table, the shelter above our heads, and the air we breathe.

I guarantee that I'm not the only on this board to feel as I do.
I feel the same way about our Lord and savior.

As one who has the highest regard for the Bible, I sometimes wonder if we create issues where they need not be. I understand that for generations, Orthodox believers taught a literal, 6 day of 24 hours duration interpretation of the Creation accounts Something over a century ago that began to be questioned due to the rise of evolution theory, and Bible defenders became more and more strident in their defense of 6--24 hour days.
I wonder if that debate is necessary. What if the original intent of God giving that information to Moses was simply to teach that God is the Creator? If you look at the outline of the 6 days, He creates the heavens, the seas and the dry land on the first 3 days, then, he fills each of those spheres on the next 3 days. Could it be that the Genesis account was only intended to teach that God created-to say that all living things owe their origin to Him? I say that as one who recognizes that such a view would prevent me from being ordained as a Pastor in many churches, but honesty compels me to say it.
I have made the argument before ( on adding up the ages of the Patriarchs to arrive at a date for Creation), that we may err when we, as westerners, apply what is essentially a Greek mind to an Eastern mindset. Maybe this is yet another example of doing that, and in so doing, we have created problems where none need exist.
