Democratic convention
Best two speakers last night were:
(that I saw) 1. The lady helicopter pilot who lost both legs. Wonderful story, well told. When she was finished I think perhaps she was the only one in the house with dry eyes. 2. Michelle Obama.....did a wonderful job. She was clear, relaxed and very normal appearing. The talking heads criticized for lack of detail on the budget. Hopefully there will be information presented tonight and tomorrow.

I didn't know she had any problems in the past with her appearance. Or is that code talk for "clean". As Joe would say. |

Barack is clean and articulate while Michelle is normal looking.

I read "normal" as appearing to be an actual person. In other words, she doesn't look like a game show host.

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

I think MO did a pretty good job of it, but I was surprised at how the commentators really went for it.
Still... http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/open-discussion/324553-sherman-set-wayback-machine-september-2008-a.html I am a Republican ( nominally, but I also voted for Gore and Kerry so...) who voted for McCain, primarily because BO was completely inexperienced , and McCain wasn't. If I had it to do over again (2008 election) I would do the same thing ( he lived another 4 years ). I am still voting for experience this time, and Romney hasn't got it. What experience he has, is all bad, IMO. He knows how to create jobs, sure, but not in the US. Can't we collectively find someone who can run this asylum? BO at least has 4 years under his belt. I don't agree with much of what he did, but at least we aren't cratering. I never thought he would be able to do much anyway, so I haven't been as disappointed as the Koolaid drinkers. I hear the whining about how slow the recovery has been- sure, but we never had the crisis we had in 2008 before as in the wayback machine. We have no manufacturing base now...what do we expect? We keep sending dollars overseas for Chinese crap and foreign oil and if nobody over there buys anything from us what kind of fantasy economy can we have passing fewer dollars around amongst ourselves? The rancor and bitterness in the Congress has got to stop. There were Democrats and Republican in the good old days and things got done. We are headed for another financial showdown (read sequestration) and it ain't gonna be pretty. Pathetic. Time to liquidate your holdings and stuff them in the mattress...oh... that's not going to be good for the markets...

I'll make no comments on the Democrat Convention. Its their show--let them have a good time. Party and rah rah.
We'll get back to issues in a few days. Enjoy!
