The link was included. I took both those quotes from the same article.

the article is completely unsubstantiated garbage sourcing tweets and attributing them to white house policy. The tweets arent even linked in the article or reprinted. On top of that, it has a quote from Mensa director, Sarah Palin in it, so we know what its worth.

Thank you Dieselguy53 for a link to his actual response

Isn't that akin to saying "I have diesel cars so WGAS if the gas prices go up."? Sure, even if 20% of the oil we use comes from the ME, their problem becomes our problem and not just China, India and Europe. Distabilizing the oil price there will hit our trading partners and also mess up the oil prices of the oil we get. I don't think you can simply say "Well, that is Saudi oil and we don't buy it so it cannot affect the price of other oil that we do use.".

Personally, I support the right of the filmmaker that made it. I don't have to agree with the topic or subject of the film, only the right the guy had in making it.
This is a tough one; I agree he has every right to make this film. But he must have know what the consequences were, we all know what the response is from those imbeciles.

I would not be surprised if we will see attacks in Pakistan and other countries in the coming days, this could get really ugly.

From the NY Times:

" Yigal Palmor, the spokesman for the Israeli Foreign Ministry, said in a telephoned statement: “Nobody knows who he is. He is totally unknown in filmmaking circles in Israel. And anything he did — he is not doing it for Israel, or with Israel, or through Israel in any way.” Mr. Palmor also called the filmmaker “a complete loose cannon and an unspeakable idiot.”

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the man who said he was the filmmaker called Islam “a cancer,” and said he had raised $5 million from about 100 Jewish donors and had shot a two-hour movie in California last year. The Associated Press said he said it took three months and used 59 actors and 45 crew members.

The A.P. reported reaching a consultant on the film, Steve Klein, who said he had warned the filmmaker “you’re going to be the next Theo van Gogh,” referring to the Dutch filmmaker killed by an Islamic militant in 2004 after making a film about abuses in Islam."

It is my understanding that the response from Obama you are quoting was made prior to the attack that killed the ambassador.

Like Aklim said, oil is oil. It's fungible and the "civilized" world needs it, like crack. Maybe if we had been scared shiiitless in 1979 and had had the wit to do something innovative about it we wouldn't be here now and hundreds of thousands of folks in the ME wouldn't be dead now .

So what would the answer be? Simply toe their line because they can get violent? What happens when they push that line a little more? Cave in a little more? Where would the line eventually end up?

Like I sad, it's a tough one: Is freedom of speech worth the death of others?

Looks like we're going to get a glimpse of Rmoney's foreign affairs expertise, in spite of his efforts to dodge the issue.

It was paid for with the deaths of many, and I'd argue it would be worth dying to protect. I'm not going to say it's worth your life, or the next guys, though -- that's your decision to make.

Does it honor the deaths of many and the future deaths of many to go to war over the actions of extremists on both side, every time?

Nothing is worth dying in my book, you only have one shot at life.

It isn't tough at all. As I said, we will never know where it ends. Assuming we ditched our principles, and gave them an inch, you sure they won't ask for a yard the next time? Let me put it this way. If your kid pouts when you say "No candy" and you give in, where do you think it will end? With the candy or will he take it and expand it?
