If somebody asked me what my favorite rye whiskey is I'd answer Van Winkle Family Reserve, hands down. Do I drink it all the time? No, it's silly expensive and hard to get. One xmas bottle, maybe.
Bulleit Rye is available, decent and doesn't break the bank. Bulleit sells lots more whiskey than Van Winkle, but you won't find a soul who thinks that for that reason they're the best.
Old Overholt might be the exception in rye whiskey . . . typically bottom shelf, but surprises the palate.

Old Overcoat is a decent mixing rye for sure. It's too hot to drink straight though, even at only 80 proof. It and Beam Rye come out of the same vats nowadays.

They may be the best at their price point.

Just pointing at that this survey has a POV. Might have been prepared with a certain result in mind---to sell it to the "top performers". Just saying that surveys like this one don't present the whole truth; just a version of what they want you to see as true. Maybe after seeing this survey, you will be more likely to visit a Red Robin, or Five Guys, or whatever, just to see what"the best buger" is really like.

What was interesting about the poll was as the article says . . . winning in four geographic areas with virtually no advertising, which could also be said about In & Out.

When I want something about the same for less, I go to Whataburger and get it for $7.
Never been to Whataburger, but the Five Guys basic burger is a double patty, if you only want a single, you have to order a "Little." Maybe that's a difference.

In your area, it's probably known as Carl's Jr. I actually liked the burgers from CJs better than Hardees. Growing up, we had a Burger Chef that had the best cheese burgers around. They were bought out by Hardees, and homage is paid to Burger Chef whenever they bring the Big Chef out...which was Burger Chef's signature burger.

I have great love for In-N-Out, and miss it dearly...nothing better or easier to order than their food. No BS on the menu, just straight up quality food at a decent price.

I do occasionally crave a cheapie burger from McDonalds...but not too often.

Burger King has a different taste than the rest, due to the flame broiling.

5-Guys is too darned expensive for me, and there's no way in hell that I'll ever eat at Red Robin...nastiest food I've ever had.

When it boils down to MY favorite...A Frisch's Big Boy Burger wins each time. Their signature tartar sauce makes it perfect. The closest one to my current location is Cleveland...2.5 hours away.

Trying to target the best of all time is impossible...there's so many different tastes from different regions of the nation.

The Counter : Custom Built Burgers : Menu

If you have a chance to try this place, it's one of the few chains that actually has a beef patty that tastes like it was once steak.

In-n -out didn't check to see if their buisness model--Menu fit texas before coming here, I stopped in the one on LBJ late one nite-searched the menu, and asked the girl "wheres the bacon cheese burger'. she said "we dont actually offer bacon on the menu".... big UHHHH, i replied you all REALLY should have thought about that before coming here and turned and walked out.
No reason to visit an i-n-o again.
Theres a 5 guys close by, never been in it..
Braums is always a good standby.

I haven't tried Five Guys. Of the ones in the survey that I've tried, In-N-Out is by far my favorite. I liked Steak N Shake when I lived back east, but we don't have them here. Hardees and Carl's Jr. are the same thing, so I don't know why they're listed separately. Their food will do in a pinch, but there are much better places to eat. Jack in the box has some pretty good stuff-not nearly as good as In-N-Out, but several miles closer and considerably faster. They also stay open later than anyone else around here. I don't eat at McDonalds if I can help it.

Hardees and CJ's are different enough for me to say I'd take CJ's over Hardee's any day. About the only thing from Hardees that is the same at CJ's is the biscuits and gravy for a dollar.

Hear hear!!

As a kid we seldom had the luxury of a fast food joint, but when the occasion arose it was always to Burger Chef.
Man, that Big Chef was the best! Only burger that topped it was the Might Moe, at Hot Shoppes IIRC.
