I have used it once, but lately have considered it for one or two more.

In response to the OP,
NO, I have never even considered using "ignore". We all naturally want to listen to people who agree with us. Using the "ignore" removes the other side of the argument and makes for very easy Straw Man conversations with ourselves. I consider that dangerous.
Our politicians already talk past each other--pretty much like using the ignore function except more dangerous. We need dialogue--and accountability.

100% agree.
Personally, I think the ignore function is completely misused when one posts politically charged statements, and then places everyone that disagrees with them on ignore.
Smacks of cowardice in my opinion, someone who is sufficiently insecure in their own beliefs, that they cannot stand an actual debate with people who may disagree, so ignores everyone so that they never have to.

Truer words were never spoken, the result is nothing but a straw man conversation, and fortunately most people on the forums are not like that, HOWEVER, there are a few people who are not only proud of ignoring a long list of people, but recommend it to all others.

My belief is that the ignore function should not be usable in open discussion. If you are posting endless politically charged threads, you reap what you sow, and what you sow is an actual discussion.

If you don't want to hear dissenting opinion, post the links on your desktop, so that you and yourself can agree endlessly with them.

Ignore prevents you from seeing an individual's posts within a thread, but it does not block threads that individual starts. Can't really figure that one out.

Even if you don't know their exact poster ID, get close and selections will appear for you to choose from.

If there is someone whose posts get under your skin, you can simply ignore them rather than cause ulcers for yourself and cause a bunch of grief for the moderators.

It works great! Give it a try.
Who said that???

I think it would be cool if you could see who is being ignored by whom.

The ignore function has worked great for me. Everyone I put on ignore eventually leaves the forum.

Ditto. Up in the right hand corner under the infraction record. "Ignored by:" and "Ignoring:" with a list of names under each.

Mods?? C'mon, it'll be fun.
