I guess I missed it. Was there discussion of Churches promoting murder somewhere in this thread?

That's it right there.....but progressives have perverted it.

Are you aware religious services were held routinely in the capital rotunda at one time?

Yes, and when the constitution was being drafted, it took them several hours every day to make it around the room and hear all the prayers before they got to work.

They should not be able to and keep their tax exempt status, in my humble opinion.

Which is fine. I don't care what they believe in as long as they don't enforce it on others. I don't care if the senator is a Jew, Christian, Buddhist or even worships the devil (although that could be more cool since we are talking about superstition anyways). Once they start pushing the religious crap down our throats, that becomes a different story. So if your religion forbids drinking or abortion, that is fine with me. Don't write it into the law books. If you cannot separate your church and duties, don't come to work ever. This is like a pharmacist who doesn't believe in birth control. Either suspend your beliefs at the door or don't come to work.

IOW, you favor a church or any religious beliefs that have absolutely no impact on anyone's life or decisions.
As James, the brother of Jesus wrote in his letter, That kind of faith is of no value.

Are you saying that only ignorant Christians reject the theories of MMGW?

It's the churches (think catholic) who oppose birth control (world wide) Remember they think it is a bigger sin to prevent birth with a condom than prevent AIDS.
Correction ( and I am NOT a Roman Catholic) What you call "preventing a birth" they would call "Murder". How far should they go to compromise between murder and birth control? Or do they lose the right to their belief that it is murder because it disagrees with your, ( oh so much more enlightened) opinion that it is merely discarding unwanted tissue? Where is the compromise that is respectful of both sides of this debate?

Anyone ELSE but the believer, yes. If you want to bark at the moon, as long as you don't make me do so, fine. You want to have gay sex? Go for it with another consenting adult. Just don't make me join in your festivities. Don't want to eat meat on Friday? Fine. Don't make it illegal for a restaurant to serve meat. If the restaurant has a lot of catholic customers and wants to serve only fish on Friday, I have no issue with it. Don't force me into your belief. Is that so difficult?

So if you say it is murder, don't engage in it. Why are you stopping me because of your opinion or belief? Should I have the right to force you to bang a gong because the monster is eating up the sun according to my belief and we need to scare it off otherwise we have no sun?

So would it then be okay for a non profit gay rights organization to send people out to promote their cause and still retain their tax exempt status?

There shouldn't be any tax exempt status for those groups either
