JP,

I was just strolling by and learned of your recent situation. I just want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I'm sure you will work through it all and be going full steam in no time!

I apparently unplugged my leads to the monitors in my sleep today...they don't find that humorous here.

I have the same danged nurse aide I had last January when I was here...It can't decide what it wants to be. It has makeup, earings, long hair, and sounds like a lady, but has a goatee. I had to call a nurse in to help me sit up so I could relieve myself, and this thing came in. Needless to say, I sent it out and requested a different nurse aide.

I find it difficult to urinate when there's a freak in the room.

My roommate has sent it out of the room twice as well.

Holy crap...I've become a grumpy old man like my dad.

Glad to see that sense of humor!!

Hope you get to leave soon, and with any luck at all, you won't be having to see her/him/it again...
Maybe that's the point... give a guy a nurse's aide like that, and they get better and leave real fast.

Pulling for a quick and complete recovery!

That's obama care: the obama team dives in your past online activity, they can go back too the beginning of the interwebs, search for your phobia's and use it to get you out of there as fast as possible. Very efficient.

Get better dude

Having even one stent installed in combination with a even mild attack can really take the steam out of a person for at least a few days. My wife is physically fit and carries no excess weight etc. In otherwords she is pretty robust and physically tough as well. It was of course her mind and intellect that attracted me to her. Her being a mean sex machine in her day may have also been a small factor. Us guys are what we are. There is no avioiding it.

Still when this heart attack occured with her it really pulled her down for some time. Rather than the heart working in a low oxygen availability mode and killing heart muscle. Some force of nature if you wish made it operate at the level of oxygen available I think. Her blockage was between the heart and lungs. The other arteries were in good shape.

So they had a time getting the heart back up to speed and pressure after the stent... When the heart semi shuts down it appears it does not automatically resume normal activity as soon as a shunt opens the artery up again. Perhaps in some individuals it still does.

So they had a booster pump installed on her leg to aid the heart for three days. One on one nursing 24 hours a day is provided for those serious situations it seems as well. The three shifts of nurses attending only her are competant to do a lot of medication adjusting I suppose on an almost instantainious basis. I talked to a couple of them and they were obviously very well trained in cardiac issues and skilled as well.

What amazed me as she looked pretty bad for a couple of days is that there was absolutly no damage from the event. Our doctor told us this occured because her heart had pretty well shut down It was awhile till she was totally back to tigre tank status still. Plus her comback from the event was so well managed.

Our doctor told us still she really only survived because of the good general condition she was in. If she had been overweight or sedinary in lifestyle there is every likelyhood she could not have made it. It really upset me to see her go through that. Plus I got mad at myself because of thinking about how I could go on without her. Being that self centered at that time really got to me

For the first two to three days I really expected her to not make it through. I had serviced medical electronic equipment as my first job in electronics many years ago. So I had no issue with seeing on how bad a shape she appeared to be in. Even with the booster pump the blood pressure was far too low. My thought today is only leting it slowy elevate in a controlled fashion might have been one function of the specialised care she got.

On her last talk with the doctor before leaving the hospital. The cardiac surgeon guy asked her if she used becel margarine. She answered in the affermative. He then said to stop doing it as that stuff can kill you. I have to assume he was kidding.

The staff shipped her back to our local hospital for recovery as they told her you do not want to really be in our general cardiac care unit here. You are just as well back at your own hospital or even better for the week or so remaining before going home. They do about 40 stent jobs alone on the average day. Even the cardiac intensive care unit that she was in has perhaps thirty beds in separate cubicles all open on one end. No central monitoring in that area.

When I was visiting her they were removing the ocassional person with a sheet over them from that section. I would expect there to be several hundred beds in the general cardiac care area. Watching someone go through a heart attack is a sobering experience to say the least.

I posted this to give you some ideal that you have to be doing well or they would be paying far more attention to you. They more or less kept my wife in a semi concious stage at best for those three days on purpose. The only thing she remembers is when a surgeon told her it was going to hurt as The pump system is removed. She told me later he was far from a liar.

Have you considered or have the doctors mentioned if the heart condition with the obstructing arteries might have been part of the dizziness factor. The heart does not go into the heart attack stage without usually some obscure other syptoms I would think in a large proportion of cases. The attack to me is just an indication the heart has gotten tired of trying to cope with a situation. Those arteries where progressivly closing off remember.

Anyways I know you are going to get well. Everything you have mentioned indicates they do not have a great concern about it. Cardiac medacine has moved forward substantially from the old days.

At the same time you did not need this on your plate as well. I am really hoping that opening up those arteries is going to reduce some other syptoms you have been having. If this becomes the case you may not know one way or another for awhile.

I am certainly not a doctor but ask the doctor that is taking care of you if any of your other issues could have been causitive from anything like low oxygen available to the brain causing dizzyness. If so it is a shame it took a heart attack to find the issue. Pain in extremities is another very common symptom I believe as well of low heart function.

Personally we have never met but I have watched you go through a lot more than most of us experience on site. Again personally I would feel good about it if there were some unexpected upside. You sounded well on the mend if you could critique a staff member. Or have they just got you in the gay section?

Seriously though you are young enough to hopefully get past all the issues of a medical nature that have seemingly plagued you. What got me thinking about all this was your high blood pressure may have been the bodies way to attempt to supply enough oxgen to the brain and other areas. If your blood pressure is normal now there is a slight chance in my unknowledgeable opinion things might be in general much better overall.

What is really bothering me is I had wondered about your heart and general oxygen supply condition to myself some time ago when you had mentioned some of your symtoms. I could not mention this on site because the average fairly competent doctor should have picked that up so I had to be wrong. Since I am not a doctor would have added confusion perhaps as well. might even still be doing so by posting this.

Treating your high blood pressure conditon without perhaps evaluating the reasons for it first properly could have been the proverbial nail in the coffin situation. In some way in my simple mind I saw no lack of symtoms that something was really going on.

I will leave you with this. Some people perhaps because of my advancing age think I know a lot of things so I get unsolicited questions fairly frequently from people I am interacting with. They never seem to ask questions about fields I am or was relatively competent in like electronics or building things.

As a medical type example I was at a neighbours cottage and a woman there was asking me pretty endlessly about her breathing condition. For whatever god awful reason she asked me what I thought about it. . Still this was too good an opportunity to miss. So I just told her. Look I am not a doctor but will have a look and examine your chest if you wish.

Since the other people in the cottage had been hearing a lot more than I had been about her issue. Probably realising that nothing much could be done about her asthmatic condition . She was seeing a doctor regularily we knew. They started prolonged spontainious laughter at my suggestion.

I wonder where the opposite sex get the ideal we guys all have a one track mind. We are not really sexual driven creatures all the time after all. Sometimes we sleep.

It is pathetic that even at age seventy I still have a good sexual drive that is far from over utilized. You cannot be visualised as a dirty old man unfortuantly in society. So there is not much upside to it still being present.

Anyways I know you are getting well from this episode. I am not religious but god willing there will be some upside from all this. We occasionally get some guys on the mercedes forum that seem to go from one issue to another.

It really livens up the discussion forum. You seem to have made the grade. To read through all my crap in this note you have to on your way to a decent recovery I expect and hope. Keep at it.

Generally again I hope to see you a lot better overall in a few months is my hope. You are far too young to be saddled with what you have been dealing with and the wife must have been almost frantic with concern. When my wife gets concerned she make a habit of concealing it. We have been together for so long I can almost read her like a book though. If you tally up the total years of combined suffering in our case it becomes a substantial number. Fortunatly I would have not wanted it any other way.

Incidentally I was lucky with the neighbour lady at the cottage . Even though I did not get to do the chest examination. Not lucky the way you may be thinking by the way..

Since the condition was far worse at the cottage it was obviously something in the enviroment. I suggested using a high tech mask. This approach she tried and it restored what normalicy was available to her so she could enjoy the cottage at least as much as her home. I hope she does not develop any gynocologic type issues down the road to ask me about.

Best of wishes from me in your getting totally well at some point. The reduction of the load on the mind resulting if possible is important.

Hope this post is not too unapropiate right now. I am taking a chance that your thinking and concentration are back up to speed or close enough. I was just thinking about you and mentally examining if there may be something upbeat at least and thought there just might be a possibility there was. Or at least giving you something to mull over.

Diet & stress are only part of the heart-health equation.

Cholesterol number, weight-management/obesity, physical exercise, past/present various drug use, (including growth hormone steroids/alcohol/tobacco) quality of sleep, and family history/longevity are the rest of the story.

It's a minefield to navigate "what's my/your heart-health?"

In my way of thinking, diet and use of tobacco/alcohol are the easiest to tackle on Day 1.

There are reports coming out all the time that different things are better for you. I dont think they really know. Saw a report last night that walnuts should be eaten every day to reduce stroke & heart attack risk. Juvenile broccoli is supposed to reduce cancer risk. So I guess we are going to live on broccoli & walnuts. ~ I dont think so.
