Let's support JP during this time
While it isn't enough to help out the issue with balance and the dizziness...my BP and pulse rates are finally at the good levels. The cardiologist told me that he's sending me back to my PCP for maintenance care. In addition to that, I've dropped 9 pounds. I attribute that to snacking constantly on the dried fruits and vegetables my wife and I run through the dehydrator.
While that makes me happy, the PCP increased my meds for the neuropathy from once a day to three times a day. We're hoping that increasing them will decrease the pain and tingling in my legs enough to help out with my odd gait. We're thinking that if we get that taken care of, then it will help out with my balance. That will leave the dizziness as an issue, but there's a chance that I could possibly get rid of the walker for good, and only use the cane. My wife and the doctor think I'm being too optimistic, but I'm tired of not being able to do anything to contribute around the house. If I can at least get to the point that I can at least help with some of the daily chores around here, I'll feel better about my contribution to the home. I'm just happy that the BP and pulse rate are down...Those worried me more than the other issues.

Glad to hear some good news on the health front, jp! No reason not to be optimistic about the other issues, positive attitude can go a long way. As my old Italian friends always say, "Just keepa go." Keep on fighting!

Good news is always good. Keep focusing on what you're doing right and definitely keep the positive outlook. Aiming high doesn't mean you'll always hit your target, of course, but it nearly always means you'll be better off than you would have otherwise.
Good luck, JP. Add me to the list of those pulling for your continued improvement. |

Nice. Was it as simple as exercise and changing your diet or did they give you blood pressure meds as well?

I've lowered my sodium intake. Even though I wasn't adding it to my foods, the box meals are loaded with it. We no longer have box meals, except for nights when the kids have friends over. Those nights, my wife fixes me something different, usually a plate of my favorite...sweet young brussel sprouts in a butter sauce.

I love veggies, including the ones most people shun but......
JP, anyone that's badass enough to eat brussel sprouts without anything on the side is badass enough to lick just about any health issue. ![]() All the best!

![]() Those are my absolute favorite. They have to be small and young. If they are big, they are too bitter for me. My wife and I have made meals of them. Both of my daughters love them and can't get enough...I can't get my son to even try one, and that boy will eat dang near everything that isn't nailed down. Another of my favorites is buttered broccoli with a light dusting of sea salt. Since I've lowered my sodium intake, bacon has been a limited delight. I only eat two pieces, both cut in half so it looks like I'm getting four. I'm trying to trick my taste buds into thinking I'm actually getting more, but they're smarter than that.

To trick your mind use smaller plates.
