Check for spark - if no spark, check crank position. If spark, check fuel.

the car stranded me today. I banged on the tank and the fuel pump started and I drove it all day and when I got home, it started to mess up again. What is the problem?

you will find it keeps doing it. best thing is to replace the pump ASAP before the banging on the tank trick dosnt work anymore. sounds like it's failing fast

Did you get a cheap fuel pump from Autozone? Airtex?

Those might last a week. There's a reason those are $150 and the name brand or factory ones are $400-$500.

Might be a good idea to take it to a proper mechanic for a real diagnostic.

It's a Precision Brand Pump. Are they any good?

Time for a proper diagnosis.

Heat from the engine bay can cause problems to electrical bits that are on the edge, such as the fuel pump relay. That's just spit-balling though.
