You must wait at least until you re-visit the surgeon post surgery, which is 7 to 10 days out, before starting any therapy. Then, after evaluation, you may be instructed to start the rehab regimen a few days to a week after that follow up surgeon visit.

It's a regimented process to adhere to after this type of surgery.

I was joking . It went from "dude you really should do your rehab" to "dude not doing your rehab would be really stupid", so I figured I would continue the trend.

The "" was a hint .

As some one who has had shoulder surgery, I can confirm this is the case.

As have I had shoulder surgery, specifically germane to some of the outlined procedures that were done here.

The process of rehab must be adhered to, to have success in this type of surgery - some may not have been aware of this.

removed the stitches. i did the first two wounds, the mrs did the other two. no fuss for me, the mrs did not like it. she was afraid she'd hurt me. feels like nothing or at worst a skeeter bite.

As a follow-up to shoulder surgery, strengthening of the shoulder muscles were of utmost importance, according to my orthopedic surgeon.

The regimen of specific shoulder exercises I have graduated to the last 4 years has been sometimes neglected by me, but not forgotten.

The regimen I have been instructed to do, done properly, takes just under 30 minutes total, to perform on both shoulders. Rubber band resistance is essential to maintain shoulder muscle readiness, so as not to be prone so easily to injury. It's quite the strengthening workout, and simple to perform once you learn the several specific band stretching necessary to perform.

The band stretching is based on an isometrics-like; holding against resistance for 3-seconds in the resistant mode, then resting for 3-seconds, before repeating for either 15 or 20 times on each exercise.

As a brush-up, I did the routine late Sat. afternoon before supper. Took me the usual 30-minutes, then I had a chance to watch the end of the New England Patriots beat the Indianapolis 'Horseshoes,' ha! as well as doing some walking Up-a-grade on a treadmill for 15-minutes! The football game AND the exercise regimen did not disappoint! The stretching of band-resistance was prescribed every other day. Wow! Just a great set of exercises to do.

I've been sleeping mostly in my miserable recliner. I must have gotten my arm into an awkward position or something. I was just having an elaborate dream about walking around Lafayette sort of lost and dreamed a mugger came up and hit me in my shoulder. I guess I jerked in reaction so woke up with my shoulder hurting a lot. I took a pain reliever and am now icing it and will try to go back to sleep in a different position in a while.

Weird!

(No, I didn't take any hallucinogenic drugs either)

Today I woke up with my shoulder being the best its been so far. It felt so good I could not believe it.

Mid day I was walking across my driveway and stepped on some ice covered by the new inch of powder and nearly fell. In the catlike action required to avoid falling, I was completely at the mercy of my subconscience and gave my repaired shoulder a huge jerk in the worst possible way.

I am now subject to ungodly pain if I move a certain way, and I cannot tell what movement activates it. I hope I have not torn the repair loose.

My follow up with the surgeon is Saturday. I wish it were tomorrow!

Oh no! That's like snapping a bolt after three hours of careful repair work... except that it's your body. I hope there's enough of a stub left so that so that you can still twist it out with vise-grips without having to resort to drilling it out.

Or like the Selective Service ad says on the radio: "THAT'S gotta hurt".

Slip-fall accidents on ice/snow, and their associated jerking movement accidents are just awful. That's awful to read.

It feels a lot better this morning. Maybe I just aggravated it and it'll be ok.
