ahem . . . I wouldn't blame the make or model of the computer or router as being the weak link in this scenario . . .

I don't understand. If it's not the hardware causing the problem then you're saying the problem lies in the operator's.... ohh, I see. Never mind.

Hold on...he's not computer literate like many here. That's not really his fault. His experience and mastery comes in a different field...how many of you guys can design and make the signs he's been making for much of his life? He's probably like my dad was...if it didn't work the way he wanted it, he'd take a hammer to it until it either worked right, or he felt better.

Technology isn't always user friendly.

Give him a break...Some of you guys can be real vultures.

I reckon someone who often says "buy a MAC!" at every given opportunity can take a little bit of friendly fun especially when he's got computer trouble.

CLK how old is the machine?is it one of the newer silver cased ones? is it within the last 5 or 6 years? if so, they are pretty easy to get online. it sounds like you are headed in the right direction. when you pull up the "linksys" network, does it show secured or unsecured under the name? do you recall passwording the network in the past? when you click on linksys, does it ask for a password? If you want to Pm me with your contact info, i may be able to give you a call and walk you through it.

As long as you promise never to kick my garbage cans over again
