Notice that he's been teaching for 20 years. Most new teachers would be reluctant to do this especially now that districts have 'pay for performance' plans where supervisors have much more control over salaries.

Sure does seem like a school board infused with self-entitlement...

They missed a great opportunity to teach the kids of their school a lesson in civics because they were to hung up on their own importance.
The questionnaire should not have had kids names on them. Simple fix, take the names off.
The insistence that their way was correct, rather than seeing the validity of the points raised by the teacher reinforces only bad stereotypes about 'The System'....

That school district might be well served by a few more 'new members', like the sole dissenting vote.

I don't understand why the teacher is in trouble? Because he told the students they didn't have to fill it out? Or some other reason. If it was simply the former, it is ridiculous. He was teaching his kids. He was a social studies teacher.

As a former educator, we to handed out surveys like this to students. I am certain it was anonymous (no name required). If the board or whomever created the survey thinks they were going to get straight answers with the kids incriminating themselves they are morons. My guess is that they wanted the kids to say they weren't drinking and doing drugs so they could show the community how good of job they were doing.


And yes, my first thought of the picture of the guy was....it's The Dude!
