Interesting we both came to the same conclusions with the GTI after a short ownership period. Things were acting tired way too early, and it was very uncomfortable to drive long distances.

Yeah I am surprised to be honest, there were certain things I loved about the car but for a daily driver it was just a bit too rough (our roads over here are terrible too). The clutch and transmission noises gave me the heebie-jeebies though -- dealer insisted it was normal, then recommended 3 new tires (at 20k) not because the tread was low but because they had deformed. If thats what it was like at 20k I don't want to know 60k or 100k, etc. Anyways I got a decent trade in value for it, only depreciated a few thousand since new. On the forums a lot of GTI guys are actually trading out.

Well, Jim B. gets the credit for the set up. Give him an assist.

I drove down to VA to look at one car in particular after a bit of phone negotiation. Turns out I wasn't too impressed with that one but they showed me one that had come in the day before that they had bought back from the owner (allegedly she was moving and didn't want a car anymore). Options list was right, got a very good price on it and a decent trade on my car. They had to service it still though, order 2 new rims, apparently the ones on there were damaged from potholes/curbs, tires and a windshield (cracked) so I'm in a 2013 BMW 328xi for the next few days.
