We have a 528e, a lovely car with over 200K on the odo. It has been obnoxiously reliable but as spend as a MB to repair when needed.

He seems to be evading this question- hope he knows the difference.

Not that I would turn down any e28 at that price...if it was a stick...

Go for it.

It's a 528e, with a manual.

Cheap cars to be had for days!

For the most part - rust free and running too.

Not a typical BMW 6 of that era, as the eta engine traded revviness for more lower-end torque.

^The 528e has about the same low end torque as does the average hand shovel.

Buy it - those wheels look like Alpinas - they're worth more than the car itself.

I have a 1988 535is M/T and it's a great car. Before that I had a 1986 535is which I drove to 290k miles, and then sold to some guy in Vancouver. Last I heard he's still driving it and it has 315k miles at this point and has never been opened.

^^ rock on M30....

Buy it and maybe you can trade Thorsen for his e24 that he somehow doesn't like. That would be a sweet deal....

you could meet him at Promentory Point, UT...

Hrmn, how hard are these to lower?

I have a set of 17" BBS wheels that would bolt right up...

I learned to drive on an old 528e -- yeah, the redline was about 4500, but it had a diesel-like low end and was incredibly forgiving for a new driver. The fact that it only had 120 hp or so didn't hurt the handling any either.

The car lasted till about 175k miles, when someone decided to drive diagonally across some toll booth lanes and plow into us coming off the Turnpike. Car was literally bent at the front fender line, but still drove and everyone in the car was unhurt.

BUY IT! And if some gauges don't work and the "service" warning lights are on, you may have to take the dash cluster out and replace a couple of NiCads that are no doubt past their use by date now.
