Skid: Marriage? I'm not even thinking about that! I'm well aware that because of the age difference a meaningful and lasting relationship may not work out. I'm fine with just a non-serious relationship :x I think as long as we both understand what we each want from the other then it can work. I don't think she is looking for marriage--it's just my unfounded opinion. I'm not either. Maybe winning her affection is a final conquest of sorts: the unobtainable older woman...every schoolboy fantasy you've ever had all embodied in this person.

As I've mentioned, her age and socioeconomic class doesn't bother me or intimidate me. In fact, I delight in it. I love powerful women, intelligent women, classy and sophisticated women. Now this isn't to say that I possess these qualities and am looking for someone similar to me

I like someone who can bring out the better person in me. I have dressy clothes but don't always wear them, but someone who dresses classy makes me want to dress better. Speaking of clothes, I wonder if it will be weird if I wear a jacket and tie. I'll be meeting her after work, but work doesn't require me to dress up. I don't want to make it seem I'm trying to impress her, unless women her age likes a guy wanting to look good for her.

Someone mentioned retirement benefits. That has never crossed my mind. I'm not looking for a suger mama and would lose any sense of self-respect if I was just using her for money. I genuinely like her. And on the topic of money, I'm sort of old-fashioned and don't mind paying for dates. I paid the first time even though she was going to pay herself, but I insisted. She said she'll get the the next one

So she paid the second time, and to be honest I felt weird. Maybe it's a pride thing. Some guys may like it (thinking that "yeah, got a girl paying for me--I'm the ****s"), but I don't like that sort of mentality.

This third date was sort of her idea

I may toss the kissing idea. Think that's a bit too much and coming on too strong and I don't want to "ambush" her. I will consider Jim B's gift idea.

Close enough that makes no difference...

Buy a nice Valentine's card, and write a short message and seal it up.

Then, whenever she excuses herself to go to the restroom during the meal, slip it into her purse for her to find.

If that doesn't happen, or she takes it with her, get your waiter/waitress' attention, and give the envelope to him/her with the clear instruction to come back and innocently hand it to your date!

I feel that to almost ALL grown women, some gesture towards her on Valentine's day is INCREDIBLY important. Here's your chance to make it.

You mentioned that SHE suggested this date. Sure seems to suggest that she IS pretty interested in you, too.

So whether or not you decide to gift her with any other little thing or not, I'd offer that a Valentine's card is practically imperative. It'd very likely warm her heart, and feel special, no matter what else, at least...

If she is as sophisticated and classy as you say, I'd say a sport coat and tie/dressy slacks are fine. A tie is no longer necessary in work situations for professionals nowadays so you could forget that, perhaps, if you'd like.

But for sure, dress shoes that are well shined is an absolute must. Mature women of worth and good breeding definitely do notice and appreciate things like that ...I think they feel it shows respect and appreciation to them.

And you'll like how you look. I GUARANTEE it!

I wouldn't. Watching her is much better an idea. See if she knows how to reciprocate or whether it is a one way street or develops into a one way street. Remember, those old fashioned ideas were developed for a reason. It was appropriate for what they were doing. Not so much today if you are looking for more than a person you have to upkeep.

Remember what you have to do if you hesitate. 3rd date and you are going so slow? I'd be wondering what you are trying to accomplish if I were her.

The old analogy is we are just like dogs chasing tires comes to mind. A lot of fun until you sink your teeth into the tires.

I always thought there was a lot of truth in that one. You are at the chase the tiress stage currently. Time will tell if you can run fast enough. The process can of course be a lot of fun. Just be prepared for the rapid rotation of the world around you.
