Yeah, especially when they grab your pant leg and won't let go.

Because it has been proven to increase voter turnout.

Why are the R's (and by extension...you) against it?
Are you afraid of the voters?

Early voting is considered absentee voting.

What the heck are you saying here??
You feel that the polling place is somehow only secure on voting day?

I would not have pegged you as having swallowed the R pill on this....
For a guy who complains about the partisan nature of the state in which he lives, you sure do climb into bed quick with the despots of the other side.

False.

All ballots received on or before election day are counted on election day.

Also, every ballot must be counted, as there is generally more than one election going on. The down ballot races must have their votes counted, even if the biggest race of the election has been conceded.

People have been voting early for decades....

In localities with limited precincts and machines, it is necessary to allow everyone ample time to get through the process.

It's kind of funny... seeing as how the Rs dislike the poor so much, wouldn't you think they would quit making so many of them??

There will always be poor people.
No one denies that.
But even though they are poor, they are still entitled to vote.

I can see the valid points of both sides of this issue. I don't object to extended voting days/hours, but I also see the possibility of extreme partisans of either party trying to find ways to make it work to their benefit.

Another question---Is simply increasing the number of people who vote a good idea? Is it possible that by making it ever easier, that people with no knowledge of the issues, but easily swayed by a slick ad campaign could sway an election?

In my state absentee ballots are only counted if the race is sufficiently close that absentee ballots might affect the outcome.

Because it is impossible to take 60% of registered voters by hand to the polling place on only one day.

They should first look at the vote from the time the ballots open until say 8:00 AM then from 5:00 PM until closing. Then only count the ones in between if the ballots are close.
