I had a customer call me on Friday at 6:00 pm wanting a sign for saturday morning. I didn't have the color vinyl He wanted but was able to deliver the job as requested. How was I able to do that?

You may have done a 100% ink coverage in what ever PMS ink color they requested as the background color, and then applied their graphics over that.

An old story - When it was time to go forward with the technically-challenging paint job for the Mako Shark, the GM 60's show car, chief stylist Bill Mitchell decreed that the colors had to match the stuffed shark mounted on the wall of his office. Gotta give this one to Simpler=Better , the color the customer wanter was white on red plastic
so I went to wally world and bought vinyl shelf liner which happens to be the almost identical to my sign vinyl. I still use it if I get in a pinch and need white vinyl.
