something is happening???
All this talk about MB quality and stuff has started to get to me. I am in love with the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and so have sortive lost interest in MB such as my w126. I am an MB enthusiast and everyone has called me obssessed. I went with a freind to the local Jeep chrysler dealer and I just want to say that CHrysler is really changing and they have put out some very nice cars. I felt how the doors closed and the hood and everything. Then we drove down to MB and thier cars are the same quality as Chrysler. The Jeep actually felt more stronger than the M class!
Now looking at both and both are related now, why should I spend more money on a MB? They are full of problems now and is probably just as good as a Chrysler. Call me crazy but that is how I feel.

Benzonline,
You are not crazy, just have a change of heart. There was a reply from one of the members in the last couple of days wrote that quality is not necessary the determining factor of buying a marquee. Look at Ferrari for instance, the guy wrote that his Ferrari needs a timing chain every 3,000 miles!!! A $90 part but $3,000 labor. Ferrari is not known for quality but is nonetheless a very desirable marquee. I personally still prefer the three point star regardless of what people say. My two cents.

I will still take a Mercedes any day. However, I am not particularly fond of the M class and the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a nice vehicle (not taking into account any potential quality control problems).

Like Snibble said, see what that Jeep will look/run like in 15 years. Also, what about OEM parts availability in 15 years. When I bought my TD last November, the first thing I did was buy some new genuine Mercedes floormats for it. The color match was perfect, and this is for a 19 year old car. Just for my own curiousity I called a local Ford dealer about the availability of floormats for a '93 Taurus. They said they don't make anything that old. The oldest they can get is 1996. Long term product/customer support is what I like about MB. Any car company can make a car look great on the showroom, but that's just window dressing.

Well... I guess you guys are right about the Jeep. Cars like Jeeps in my opinion are only good to lease because they go out of style so fast and lose value and stuff. My neighbour just bought one and my dad has one so it does grow on you when you see them all day! I am a teenager and a Jeep for me would be better for me but money is an issue and I am too young to have cars like that. I am lucky with what I have and I am learning to appreciate it.
W126 RULES FOREVER!!!!!
