If you cannot shoot them trap them and drop the trap in a tub of water, it may seem inhumane but it it actually the most humane way to kill them after trapping.

When you shoot the animal in the trap you are trying to sever the nervous system where the spinal cord attaches to the base of the brain. If you get a good shot and a clean kill there is very little bleeding as breathing is stopped immediately and the heart soon follows. More bleeding indicates a not so quick or humane death.

And how do you determine that spot?
