Well, life continues to throw curveballs....or is it fat change ups? Since I am leaning toward buying the Lotus 7 clone I decided to put my Miata up for sale. I posted the ad yesterday on the Miata forum at 230pm and today at 130 I received a nice deposit for a full price purchase. I'll be delivering it to the Chicago area this weekend, weather permitting.

I got my money back from the purchase.

Perhaps considering how quickly it sold I left some money on the table? Oh well, this opens the door for the seven purchase!

A quick pain free sale where you got what you wanted. I wouldn't worry about money on the table, if you weren't happy with the asking price you wouldn't have listed it. And you probably had some negotiation in the back of your mind. I'd say well sold!

Get that Lotus 7 and post some info. That's a repli/kit-car I've always found interesting.

Yes of course, the exhaust will radiate heat nicely.

So I just a little while ago sent a deposit for a new to me miata 99 10AE. The AE is basicaly a gussied up sport. It has the limited slip, and a lot of other minor things but also includes the welcome leather seats. It is in New Hamphire so I am pondering how to get it home. I am not sure if I am brave enough to fly out and drive it back.

I also sold the S2000.

How much is shipping? It can't be a lot more expensive than a plane ticket, gas, and the surprise repair needed about halfway home...

They will ship it for 1200 but I think I will drive my truck out and pick it up. By the time I go and look at it and come back the shipping and all other expenses will be pretty similar.

This way I will check it out myself and not worry about it.

The Mrs. has weighed in now and is going to go along. That makes me feel better too except I do know she hates long car trips.

The dog will be up for it though as she can sit on the big dodges armrest and watch out for dogs to bark at.

I am going to rent a u haul car trailer to haul the car on.

We're back now. We had a minor collision in the heavy urban traffic of Massachusetts. I'll fill that in tomorrow. The car turned out to have some hail damage which was not disclosed. The seller said he never saw it. It is hard to see except in the right light. Also he advertised it as a Tenth Anniversary edition but it is not that. It also has some minor looking rust in the body. It turns out even though it is not a 10 AE It does have sport suspension and a limited slip...so that is very good. It also has leather seats.

Today I took it out and went to my favorite place to test high speed. When I got home and looked under the hood i found it has a large four into one SS exhaust header and a fresh air intake. So that is pretty cool but now I have to figure out what class it will run in...its obviously not stock any longer.

I may have to put it on the dyno.

So we were in a very busy area of Massachusetts on a three lane each direction section of the interstate. I was in the middle lane and looking to get into the left lane. I had my turn signal on for a good while and this gray mustang appeared to be giving me room to move left. As I swung my head back forward I saw a flash of a bright little car coming into my lane so close a collision looked to be unavoidable. I jerked the wheel left and missed him but went into a tank slapper which resulted in contact between my left rear of the trailer and his rf fender. I noted he went into the median with a big cloud of dust. I hope he is ok.

I came back into control and immediately began looking to get over to the apron on the right side. I found one and pulled off about a quarter of a mile past the site of the collision.

I took a big breath and called 911. After ten of fifteen minutes a trooper pulled up beside us and came over to my window. I told him what had happened. He said when he came by the location he had not noticed the mustang (?). He took down all my information and said he had to get back to the scene. He said if we did not hear from him in ten to fifteen minutes to move on.

A good while later we got a call from his station. They gave me instructions and asked me to call the trooper, and gave me his number but the last two digits of it were missing and we lost the call.

I thought wtf? I then called my bil who is a retired fireman who said I should go to back to the station in Massachusetts and get things straightened out before leaving the state. By this time we were 400 miles away. So I called my insurance agent who said if they did not send any paperwork he would not worry about it.

So we came on home with no further ado.

I figure they have my phone number.
