But the older you get, the harder it is to burn those calories off through exercise. Your joints rebel. Walking is at least fairly easy on most of the joints. Lately I have some ankle weakness that makes long walks less attractive than they once were. These days swimming and rowing machine are the deal for me.
Most of the info I've found about keeping a flat tummy have it that changes in diet and exercise are needed. One of my clients lost about 75 lbs over a year by eliminating wheat, rice, and potatoes from her diet. Corn, quinoa, amaranth and the like were substituted.
I've virtually cut wheat out of my diet. Some nutritionists claim that virtually everyone has some degree of gluten intolerance. I don't miss it. The other day, one of my clients asked if I wanted some bread. A friend of hers brings it to her from some senior center food bank, she had more than she needed and it was still relatively fresh. On the way home, I tore off a chunk and tried to chew it into something I wanted to swallow. Stuff was like sponge rubber. I spit it out.
