I'm sorry to say I have to give it a C- for styling. Just not my cup of tea. Kinda stodgy imo.
Yeah, Yeah, I know, beauty's only skin deep. But I'm not drilling for oil, or 100 mph safety. Saw the head of BMW on Bloomberg this morning introducing the new 2017 coupe. Guy asked him if he was driving one... He said it's kid of small. I drive the 7 series sedan.

Where they have really stepped up, imo, is interiors. Just as nice as a Bentley or Rolls for half the price.

I like it.
What I like even more about autonomous vehicles is that they are a short step away from empowering people to use a vehicle of their choice on an as needed basis. In the not too distant future most won't need to own a vehicle when they can rent time as needed. The savings in everything from parking space to road congestion will be phenomenal. Of course every job based around driving nearly everything will also end.

Bullcrap -- most people will still own vehicles outside of urban areas. A large portion of people like using their vehicles to store "stuff" and don't like sharing seats with random people who just sat there. Also, they tend to want to go NOW, not wait 5-10 minutes for a vehicle to show up.
Also, yay. More fat turds in the US. The only exercise some Americans get is walking across a parking lot, and this is about to go bye-bye if the sensory deprivation bubble picks people up at the door and drops them off, then goes to park or on another trip. Not to mention that autonomous cars will make sprawl much easier to live with. They'll take us back to the Robert Moses ideal of the car-based future. And can you imagine walking or cycling if cum-pootah driven cars are doing this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVQ8bGvLkCA&t=60 As far as cars-as-a-service. Just what we god damn need. Every trip being tied to a credit card #, with start and end points stored for life. Helloooooo surveillance state. Sometimes progress makes me wish for a massive economic collapse to kick that crap a few more years into the future. What's going on with China and the stock market is a good start -- hopefully it will spread and get much, much nastier before it gets better. I don't see a brighter future. I see more social isolation, surveillance, and sickness. Maybe it's time for me to start looking at developing countries where there won't be money to implement this abortion of a society until well after I'm dead. I have adaptive cruise control on my Taurus, and it can be a great convenience when driving in medium-density interstate traffic. Basically I set it for the maximum desired speed and the radar adjusts speed accordingly when traffic looms ahead or fades away. It's even tied into the braking system, and can decelerate the car pretty sharply if a car changes lanes and cuts me off. The only thing that I don't like about this particular system is that it deactivates at about 25 mph, so there have been times when the car has been braking to maintain a gap; the car drops down to that speed, and the "son, you're on your own" chime dings to let you know that you're freewheeling towards that '73 Grand Prix just ahead of you. It makes texting, reading and picking your teeth while driving an iffy proposition. My car also has a lane-holding feature, but it's kind of "lane holding lite" - more attuned to letting a driver know that he's broaching the double line, than reliably keeping the car in the lane.

Nice car, I think I'll get one in the next couple of years. I just don't want the 4 pot, sorry I just can't spend over $25k on a sedan with a 4 cylinder.
No matter how much syrup they poor over it its still a 4 pot. I was kind of looking at the A6 since they have IMHO a better interior than the current E class, but this one is nicer inside. The only thing the current E class has over the A6 is a standard V6, Audi puts the 2.0T in the base A6's. Great motor for an A3/4 not an A6. I like the self driving feature, it means I can drink 8 martini's at the yacht club and the car will get me home!

As long as it does what you want it to do as far as power/tq, who cares if it has 4, 7 or 12 cylinders?

Because its an expensive car, 4 cylinders do not deliver power as smoothly as a V6; also its 2016 it needs 300hp. My work truck has 305hp...I couldn't spend that kind of coin on a car with only 240ish HP.

Rumor has it that they're first offering the I-4 as it is an existing engine, then they're going to I-6 engines as an option across the lineup, replacing the V-6 motors. Purists should be in a par-TAY mood:
