Momma made me wash hands before dinner, and after toilet. They said in news, all Mc Donald's touch screen, have fecal bacteria. So you guy's who are afraid have good reason too.

Unhappy EW !

For some reason I'm not surprised about the touch screen, I'm always skittish about touching things like that .

Your Mama was right ! .

What about the condiments at a restaurant table? And the menus. Those things are so nasty. I joke to my wife the salt & pepper should look like little toilets.

Talking

As much as I enjoy masticating in public with condiments, that's one more thing I tend to forgo.....

In 1973 I was in a Bob's Big Boy burger joint (? remember those ?) and noticed the ketchup bottle had a tampon jammed in the neck..... .

Someone had a really sick sense of humor .

My old high school chum was the Manager so I called him over and handed it to him .

I was just enjoying some frozen White Castles-brings back childhood memories of living in Michigan. They were better in the store obviously.

Smile Topic Drift : Comfort Foods

In the 1970's White Castle made a move to Los Angeles and called them "West Castle", they were the same as the originals, I loved 'em, many hated them .

Thirty years ago driving across America I spotted a White Castle joint in..... ?Mo? , I forget, I almost wrecked the truck making an immediate exit, they weren't as good as the ones I remember in the 1960's .

Yes go soon for echocardiogram. I can't mow my yard more than 4 mins. almost died today, I think. Twice in the past, I had panic attacks that mimic heart attack,so I won't go to any ER, unless I can't say no.

Buffets

Best one I have ever been to was the Bacchanal Buffet in Las Vegas. Wife and I just got back from a 6 day trip. It is in Caesars Palace. Worth the price and the food is amazing. Almost anything you can imagine is on the menu.

Without straying too far OT, I'm curious how you guys handle tipping at a buffet. Someone has to bus and and clean tables between customers but since they don't directly serve the food, I'm not sure the 15-25% rule applies.

I rarely eat from buffets so I never really thought about it until the following scenario a few years back.

Went with 3 officemates to a Chinese buffet which none of us visited before. It was a typical Chicago winter day, cold, snow, etc so everyone was bundled up with heavy coats and gloves. Ate lunch and the food was okay. This place was setup to take the payments after the meal and the pay station was way in the back, at the far end of the restaurant. As usual, I paid with Amex and would square up with the others back at the office. I assumed (incorrectly) someone left a tip at the table and they assumed (also incorrectly) that I would take care of it with the card. So no tip was actually left.

When I paid at the register, I wrote "cash" in the tip section of the receipt and totaled it out with my signature. We bundled back up and got ready to head for the car. As we got to the door, the lady who took the payment started shouting from the register then began running through the restaurant toward us, yelling like a crazy person. She was waving the receipt around in the air as she ran toward us. She was screaming something like "You say cash for tip on receipt and there is no cash on table". The place got completely silent and we were instantly the focus of everyone there. Like WTF? Not leaving anything for a tip was an honest oversight. We weren't out to screw anyone over.

Long story short, the 4 of us ended up giving a tip that had to be far more than the cost of our lunch. We were pretty embarrassed and just wanted to get out of there.

Sooooo.....what is a fair percentage for a buffet gratuity?

Post Tipping

As always, it depends 100 % on the service given ~ if I can't get my drink refilled or you don't want to give me more that 4 ice cubes, guess what ?

You'll be lucky if I leave $1.00 .

If you hustle and pass by occasionally to ask if I need anything, the tip grows exponentially .
