We always have quite a crowd in for new years day dinner. The wife sets it up buffet style. Others might remind their wives about this option for larger dinners.Otherwise you would need a staff.

Plus it always goes very smooth. Around seventy five people and no real issues have come at least a few times. I always wondered what she would do with all the food if the weather shut the day down. For some reason it has never happened yet.

In fact this may be an ongoing success simply because people can select what they like and the quantity of it. Over the years I also have observed that peoples eating habits in general are changing.

She does about ten vegatables and that is where the really heavy hit is now. The estimated requirement of meat needed has been steadily declining.

.Our two dogs go into social overdrive. They never table beg anyways. Yet I find their approach of just quietly floating around with all the people must be getting them the results they like. Their sophistication suprises me. Kind of a hi there and I just might consider a sample of your food. If that is what you want to do. I am not going to ask.

Thanx Fellas (I think ) .

I was out and about to day after no dinner last night and began thinking about this thread as I was contemplating lunch.....

I decided to go have a special BBQ chicken & onion pizza, extra large, no other fingers, lips, whatever touching, it looks like I'll have four slices left for to - morrow's breakfast .

Years ago, when spending six months at a time in St. Louis, I went to a buffet restaurant outside the city called Trotter's.

Very large, VERY delicious. Specialized in ham dishes but had beef, chicken, fish, heavy on the animal protein, but with potatoes and desserts. The set-up seemed to be a mile long. Was very, very good and reasonable at the time for what you got.

Anyone ever go there?

It takes a sharp mind to recognize racial prejudice but I've learned to recognize racial attitudes from the owners of chinese and mexican restaurants. Some of them like whity's money but still talk trash behind whity's back.....some of them go so far as to provide noticeable sub-standard service to whites.....

I pick up on their attitude within two minutes of entering the restaurant. I've been known to turn around and leave.....usually headed to the house where I can cook for myself without all the drama.

Thank you mr. paranoia for that .

Not that you're wrong but you're feeding them by allowing them to have this much control over you .

There's a nice little Mongolian BBQ hole in the wall joint a few towns over, hardly anyone there speaks English but instead of turning up my nose at them, I made a point of being polite and not making a mess as so many others do, now they greet me at the door like an old family friend....

As per usual, going to make an educated guess that it mostly has to do with your attitude.

That one song made him seriously rich. He's one of the most financially successful in his genre. There are 30 or so Margaritaville restaurants around the world, even cruises with that theme. I read that he gets 6 figures to do private parties. Nice work if you can get it.

He's a good performer. I always liked this song (written by Jesse Winchester):
