A winning Power Ball or Mega Millions ticket.
Then, I'd commission BMW Classic to build another one of these from their parts bins. They built this one around 2003, the result on a drunken discussion of some BMW Classic employees. They started with a shell, so that they'd have a VIN and the car would be street legal. They also cut the rear panel off and replaced it with a proper round-taillight one. This was my dream car in high school. None of my friends understood. |

Simply want rest and relaxation, and time with family/friends. Work is intense as usual and holidays are the best to simply do nothing and enjoy time with people. Just came back from a month vacation but it was more of an adventure type trip rather than a sit back and relax trip.
As far as material goods, we are lucky to have pretty much everything we need already and buy whatever might be missing outside of holidays. The one thing you cant get back is time. I guess a driveway or garage space to spend time and work on the cars would be nice, as that is therapeutic for me.

I used to just enjoy the few seasonal holidays away from the daily grind of work.. For decades.
Some rituals the wife liked where us going out and cutting a Christmas tree down every year. I no longer miss this. I guess we also changed over the years as it seems almost senseless to me now. To end the existence of a tree today for so small a reason. The trees we got seldom ever lost needles. People would ask us why. I told them I just put glue in the water. Then there was the one year for whatever reason in only a few days after I cut it down. Every last needle was on the floor. The big day here really is the dinner on new years day. We used to get as many as 75 people. Last year I overheard the wife saying she would no longer be able to do this someday. She hopes then someone else in the family will pick up the tradition that is established. For many it is the only time of the year they meet. So there is a lot of conversation. I always wondered what we would do with all the food if the weather turned really bad that day. In all the years it has not happened yet. At least a couple of ladies help with the clean up afterwards. It is only reasonable to serve it buffet style. The wife is also an expert cook. I can never forget the time a guy told his wife in front of several people. I only wish you could cook like this. I had this feeling that remark was going to cost him. Perhaps later that evening. His remark stopped the local conversation in general cold. I just remembered the wife wants the nine foot high Santa Claus set up on the front lawn this year. The original blower went bad. I now have a replacement. I did not put him out for two years and people said they have missed seeing him. He is a heavy rubberized cloth material. Actually a commercial item with some European features. So it is quite unusual. I understand a large grocery chain had him until a fire marshal deemed him a fire hazard. The kids seem attracted to it. I set a floodlight up for him and just thought where is it now? I guess I also kind of miss him being up. I always thought up on the roof near the flues would be nice but guying him would be an issue. He does kind of sway and dance in a heavy wind. Last edited by barry12345; 12-04-2019 at 11:26 PM. |

1. XKE V12 convertible with an MT.
2. Bentley. Undecided if a Continental GT or a Flying Spur. 3. If a GT, above, then a sedan of some sort, maybe an S65 in Ruby Black. If a Flying Spur, then an S63 or 65 Cab. And various for-purpose vehicles. An SUV for hauling and bad weather, a beater, like Subaru Outback or an Audi Allroad for trips into the city or questionable areas. |

I still have an Alert set up whenever an 05 or 06 CDI with 45K miles or less hits a dealers' sales website. That's how I found my 06 E320 CDI, with 59K in June 2013. I must've not had the lower mileage setting engaged at the time. It's rare that they come up these days. I've now got 77K on mine. I don't drive any of my vehicles all that much nowadays.

One of my life long best friends bought one slightly used back then. For about $5K IIRC. It was Silver, Red leather interior, V12, manual transmission, wire wheels, Black convertible top. Stunning.

I notice and it is understandable. Most wishes are for material items. I think as you age this changes somewhat. For example I wish I could get ahead of all the projects.
The son in law came across with the heat pump so it should be installed before Christmas. I simply asked if he could get what I wanted through his employer at cost. As they are in the business. He got it. Although the excavator I will be trying to get is semi remote. As it appears the auction with phone in bidders as well may be rigged. I will drive to the auction but have little expectation of prevailing. This auction house seems to report past sales of the same model at about 20K higher than other auction houses. Plus all the final bids reported seem to be too close together. No matter where those other twenty units where auctioned off in north America. This has a distinct smell to it. Or they are buying up equipment themselves and auctioning it. I can get what I want for the price I want to pay in areas where other auction houses function. The transportation home is a substantial cost issue though. I may approach the companies that finance heavier equipment at that auction and ask about repos. There are just too many on sale across north America currently. For a lot of them not to be repos. Geo thermal installations are going to accelerate in this area. So the son in law can keep it pretty busy. Plus as the wife said we have a lot of odd jobs for it ourselves. |

Anyone here done geothermal? I’m thinking it might work for me, if the price is right.
