Interstates: Deadly driving on the wrong side.

It seems every time I hear about someone driving at high speed on the wrong side of the highway, they are on the INTERSTATE. Also notice they are out on the highway at 2:05 AM.

Clearly, we should plow over those interstates. At the very least, ban travel after dark.

One thing for sure, speeds are considerably higher on the interstate as opposed to city streets.

speed kills.

Let's not forget that semi-tractor rigs like to travel at 90++ MPH at night due to the fact there is less traffic. I've clocked them going over 100++ MPH at 2:00 AM. You haven't lived until you look in your rear view and see six semi-tractor traveling two abreast at 100++ MPH coming up on your six o'clock.

We should mandate that all jobs only operate during the 9-5 time frame.

Hmmm. Hard one... city streets with numerous intersections and stops vs a multi-lane thoroughfare with no intersections or lights.... and you wonder why they are going faster? Duh.

I doubt you have ever seen any such thing.

Most of the big stuff I have driven, you know 80,000 + pounds is governed. Not many are moving along at 90 or 100 MPH. most Gear/engine combo's just are not there. But you may have been on a magic semi ride ....

Here's a little clue: If you are driving on a road, and you can only see the back of the road signs, you might have a problem...

I don’t think speed kills, it’s the rapid deceleration that’s the real killer.

They don't drive that fast during daylight hours. Past midnight on the interstates I've clocked them north of 90+++ MPH. They are trying to make up time due to slow moving daytime traffic. They have CBs, radar detectors and police scanners to keep track of smokie bear.

I personally have never met and RPM/speed governor that changed its behavior after dark. But then I never drove a magic semi.

Date/Time-stamped photos to back up your claim or it didn't happen. Put up or STFU.

Thanks for the update. BTW, if you see me on any of the tech support forums, don't bother to post. I don't need nor want ANY help from people like you. Got it, brother?

I'm trying to imagine the stopping distance of your average tractor-trailer from 100 MPH...probably greater than that of a Corvette...
