Amdro Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait and Ant Killer, 24 Ounce

This is for the non fire ant type of ants. Used to get ants in kitchen about once a year. We simply sprinkled the granules sparingly next to the outside wall of the kitchen. Ants were gone the next day.

ORTHO Orthene 12-oz Fire Ant Killer

About a teaspoon of this sprinkled on top of the fire ant mound. Seems to kill them very quickly. That mound is typically not active again so they're either dead or moved further away.

Boric acid. Pretty sure borax contains that. Not sure if the strength of it matters much.

That’s the ingredient in Terro liquid ant baits. They’re pretty convenient, inexpensive as well.

My house is built on a 100 yr old landfil and the ants are pervasive. Many things will slow them down but nothing eliminates them. Damned things farm aphids which is a double whammy. I can let the detached nursery room set at freezing temps for a month or two, then warm it up in say January and start growing and within a few weeks there will be aphids on plants. I have to grow sunflowers in the summer as sacrificial offerings to them because they prefer those over everything else and will buy time to grow other crops.

Mule team borax (laundry detergent booster) to mix with sugar and/or syrup (equal parts I think, but can’t recall).

Borax does contain boron in a very hydrated form, and it should do the trick. Boron is a trace in terms of ag and I recently noted that net boron was economical in borax as compared to big ag bags. Olden days terro was syrupy arsenic. The good stuff. don't let the toddlers near it

I looked online and supposedly Traget, Walgreen's and CVS all stock it, they don't, time wasted .

I'll keep looking as my house still has ants, mostly just in the kitchen sink but I'd like to kill the nest if I can .

THANK YOU for all the suggestions, in the end I wound up cleaning every place I saw ants and every dish (whew) , my Sweet put out some black plastic bait things and the ants made bee lines to them for weeks then they all died en route to the bait stations, I cleaned all that mess up and so far so good .

I'm sure they'll return as soon as it gets hot out and new colonies form, I never did order the Boric Acid, I prolly will the next infestation .
