When we had some ants a few years ago I used Terro. Have not seen an ant for a few years now. PO must have had an ant problem at some point since there were a lot of used up ant poison dispensers under and around the house. There was even one in the mailbox.

Post Tiny Sweet Grease Eating Ants

Thanx Tony ;

A while ago my Sweet had a serious ant problem , we recently had more rain that usual and this tends ti drive ants indoors in the Desert, one again we had this serious issue of millions of tiny ants all over the house, mostly in the kitchen .

Sometimes the teenage foster boys don't properly wash a dish or simply rnse it and put it in the dish rack .

This time the ants mostly invaded two shelves on two different cabinets, the drinking cups and the eating plates .

I had to take every ting out of the cabinets and wash them then wash every single item and while i was at it I cleared the granite countertops and washed them too, set the fans going to dry everything and when dry set out some of those little round black plastic ant baits .

I've tried tem before and the ants always walked around them ~ this time they're making beelines to the bait traps, going inside then streaming back out again going down to where their nest is I hope .

I decided to put one bait trap on the bedroom windowsill (no ants there) and within an hour or two I discovered a dead straight line of ants coming out of the electric outlet directly below it, same deal : no wavering nor lookng for other food elsewhere, they o it, pick up some bait and hustle it back to the nest....

Some "Sevin" sprinkled around outdoors might help. We had really bad carpenter ants in Ca and that seemed to help. Some mornings there would be little piles of sawdust from the ants in the wood ceiling.

The immunity thing is funny. Or maybe it's attraction. I used to swear by "Grants Ants," little ant hotels with an arsenic laced gelatin inside. Then after a few years the ants quit going for it, would ignore it completely. Weird.

Terro Liquid Ant Baits is now my go to item, less toxic than arsenic also. Boric acid IIRC.

Thumbs up THANK YOU !

It seems for now they ate up the ant bait from the .99 Cents Store, I've been away visiting my grand kids , son and wife , wil go to check tomorrow , maybe later tonight .

A rodent moved into my old house so I set up a killing trap last night, baited it with peanut butter, apparently I didn't wash the sink out well enough as when I arose before dawn there was the trail of ants again leading directly to the sink strainer .

After I took my morning meds & fiber I cleaned both sides of the sink really well and rinsed the wash cloth out, I hope that'll stop them .

I've never heard of 'Sevin' ~ maybe a link ? .

TIA,

Ive done the mule team borax mixed with sugar and syrup. Apparently liquids they eat themselves and solids they carry back to the colony and it takes both methods. I don’t really know why we’ve had so many less this year, but two things come to mind:

1) caulked all the cracks around the kitchen floor baseboards making it harder for them to find millions of easy paths in.

2) the Dyson handled rechargeable vacuum kept in the kitchen hung on the wall. It might be sucking the food out of the cracks in the hardwood kitchen floor unlike our endless sweeping and dustpan work.

Whatever the cause, our ant problem has been far less pervasive during this pandemic. We did also add some black plastic ant bait things that are only supposed to last a few months.

I think we also had far fewer shortly after renovating the kitchen and putting in new floors, but they came back.
