Wow, three pages overnight. I knew all you guys needed was a topic.

For those of you who know the area, I actually live in Land O Lakes. Valrico is downright civilized compared to LOL. This is definitely redneck country. Everyone lives on at least a 1/2 acre, there are no deed restrictions or covenants, no homeowners association, and there are 12 acre open fields in front of and behind our houses. The unique thing about our property is that the road actually runs across it. Each of us owns our part of the road and about 6 feet on the other side. So I can do pretty much anything I want with a fence, and there are no permits required.

The family next door was one of the first to build in the area and they act like they're doing the rest of us a favor by letting us live there. They treat the entire neighborhood as if they own it, even though they only bought a 1/2 acre like everybody else. Here's a couple quick stories so you understand their character.

When we first bought the lot, my partner struck a deal with the neighbor to rent a stump grinder for 1/2 day. They did the grinding and had all the stumps out well before noon. Then the neighbor decided to take a shower and have lunch before returning the grinder. He came back and told my partner that they charged for a whole day, so we had to pay him for a half day which we did. Later that day, my partner went to the rental place and got the receipt, which clearly showed that they charged for only a half day.

Another example. Their dog chewed up a pair of expensive leather shoes beloging to my neighbor on the other side. The shoes were inside his garage, all the way at the back When he complained to my a*hole neighbor's a*hole wife, her response was "you have to keep your stuff put up. We live in the country and we're going to let our dog roam free."

These are the kind of people we live next to.

So you're not left wondering, the orange fence is back up and so far has been untouched. I think they might have noticed the video camera that is in my dining room window.

Oh, and y'all are all welcome to come down for a BBQ. We've got plenty of space, and parking for probably 20 Mercedes in the front yard. Wait until I get my boat put back together and I'll take you guys water skiing down at the lake.

ok, so its settled then. Shin-dig at Rick's house! woohooo!
Now all we have to do, is settle on a date, so we know when to stop shaving, so we all look kinda mean and burly.

No keg though....Cans only. This way we will have plenty of lawn decorations to enhance the look of your neighbors lawn with.

Maybe we could have a boiled peanut spittin' contest...any ideas as to which direction we should spit towards?

The most effective way to get rid of a neighbor is to buy the mortgage to his house. Then evict him.

I think Boulders would be a good idea because they are heavy and if you crash into them, they will hurt your car. Usually if you put up a fence on the property line, you go half and half with your neighbor, but I don’t think that will happen.

I know it is difficult to park a trailer at a house, but then I saw the pictures, and I realized it was a small boat. I think he just doesn’t know how to park the trailer. Just don’t get into a fistfight with him; he’s not worth it. Unfortunately, all the losers end up living in the neighborhood forever, they pick on people til they move, and then eventually everyone catches on, and leaves the losers behind. Sad story I guess that 1 family can ruin a neighborhood, that is why I am in favor of buying mortgages.

I now remember why I moved out of san diego into an area where my neighbors are at least 100 feet away from me at both sides.

Only if he defaults. Otherwise, you have the satisfaction of having him write you a check every month, and the misfortune of having it hand-delivered.

Where will the termites go when they're done with the neighbor's house? Do termites like laquered zebrano?

I think it'd still be worth a try to talk with him about it, if not I'd go for the huge boulder idea with perenials around it. Could you imagine what a rock would do to steel, let alone fiberglass? Keep a log of these type of conversations, also get some dated pictures just in case the law comes into play.

As an X FLA resident I think I understand. "This works". If you know any really weird Veitnam Vets invite them for the week end ask them to wear full camo, gilly suits are best, then set up several kegs of beer for them in your front yard and chalange them to a bayonet, sword and axe sharping contest. You can also make lots of friends with your other neighbors by offering to sharpen all their edged weapons, fishing gaffs, kicthen knives.meat cleavers for free, well you get the point...........
William Rogers......
P.S. I now live in OR nearest neighbor is half a mile..........
