Rubbish. The only reason the drug trade is so profitable is because WE made it illegal, creating a black market, creating the violence, creating the ENTIRE PROBLEM. Legalize it, the associated crime, violence and terrorist profits almost instantly go away. This is a whole other debate however...

This only reinforces my opinion that "fat pumpkin headed bastard" is a hypocrite. I bet Rush is a closet liberal too!
I tried to watch his show once and he seemed more interested in selling his self righteous merchandise than anything else.

All entertainers are hypocrites, although the only ones being held accountable are the right wingers.

Rush screwed up BIG TIME! The thing that bothers me is that the "compassionate" lib's are raking him over the coals. Again it's OK to be human as long as you’re a Liberal, if your conservative look out you’re going to get tagged.

Look what happened to Jim Baker of the PTL club and then look at Bill Clinton who got off the hook?

since i started the thread, i'll field this:

MM, your assuming i reside on one side of the fence instead of grazing on whichever side has the tastiest grass.

my post have generally denounced hypocrisy rather than lambasting/defending any particular party or ideology.

i dont think rush always practices what he preaches, and he does seem to think that his word IS gospel.

As I posted earlier I agree, I have been listening to Rush long enough that I have heard many inconsistencies with his opinions. I gradually tuned him out and only listen occasionally for a laugh, because the guy is a good entertainer.

I don't think he's a liar though.

Lots of drugs are legal, like the pills Rush was popping for example. Drug companies make a lot of money making legal drugs. I wonder if drug companies as a whole make more money than the combined sale of illegal drugs. Hrm, be an interesting stat to look up.

I can answer without even looking anything up. NO. The fact that a drug is illegal makes its black-market value as much as 17,000 times what it would be if it were legal.

The illegal drug trade is FAR larger...Far larger than the average person even understands. And it's all created by US--our laws! Prohibition of alcohol created the Mob, the speakeasys, the "moonshine runners", the black market for all things alcoholic.....Prohibition of drugs created drug lords, dealers, gangs, smugglers, hit men.... MOST of which would evaporate if the pointless, ineffective drug laws were repealed. The drugs themselves are a SMALL part of the problem. It's the associated violence and petty crimes that people commit because of the sky-high black market prices.

Amen, Brother Mike!

The Kennedy's (a wealthy Massa..Masa.. uh...New England family), many of whom are reputed to be politicians, got their key to wealth and prominence through drug-running. I wonder what degenerate purveyor of chemical dreams will provide the next generation with the equivalent noblesse oblige.

You betcha! Never miss a cheap shot.

Speaking of spin zone, I went drinking with the boys last night--I went out with a retired anglican archbishop and an american anglican priest--sounds like the opening of a bad joke, huh? I spent a long, pleasant evening with a bottle of Glenfiddich and two smart, articulate men.

I would put it on par with an evening with Kerry, Zeitgeist and Glenfiddich--an event which I would enjoy.

Come to think of it, a potted plant would be okay with a bottle of Glenfiddich.

or Oban....keep the potted plants, communists, and priests.

Or taquila shots and.....

WOW. This is some of the sillist posts I've read here. (with the exception of a few). Most of the time this fourm is very well informed and excellant. I really think most of the respondents should stick to the light supjects and stay with Mercedes stuff. Rush's problem, besides the fact he's successful, rich and well informed, is very serious. A problem that has happened in some form to a lot a folks at some point in their life, maybe even some of the responders (or no - couldn't happen). Weather you agree with his politcs or not , liberal or conversative, the medical issue is now more apart of our present culture then most people will admit or address and should be understood as such. Just my .02

Oh by the way, Thanks Norwal for the welcome. I am a new guy to this site - only about three months. However, I'm not new to life, my next birthday I'll be 59 yrs. Maybe I'm just getting to be a cranky ole' conservative. LOL.

Love this fourm and the professionalism and courtosy of all the members.
